Southern Pacific 4449 Steam Excursion 2012!

  • prrt1steamloco... - Please help fund the T-1 Trust! They are a wonderful organization, building an advanced new 4-4-4-4 T-1 steam locomotive from scratch!
    4449 racing at high speed along the Fallbridge and Oregon Trunk subs. The weather conditions were deplorable both days (lots of wind and rain) but I did my very best nonetheless.
    Locations, in order:
    Moody rd. Deschutes River State Recreation Area, OR
    Highway 206, OR
    SE Riverwood Ct. Vancouver, WA
    Cape Horn Railroad Tunnel, WA
    Moody rd. Deschutes River State Recreation Area, OR

    Sp 4449 blows up np z6 challenger whistle taken off going to fitted from other whistle of locomotive Hancock long bell 3 chime whistle from spokane portland and Seattle 702 whistle 2012

    Great shots! Too bad the weather turned foul on you. Nice consist less the Amtrak stuff. I really like that ATSF dome car. 4449 is such a beautiful engine , I hope to see it some day.

    How did you get to that tunnel on Cape Horn? Isn't it blocked off to the public? I tried going there this summer but it was gated off

    Southern Pacific Daylight 4449 was pulling excursion train from Portland to Bend, Oregon and return.

    I also rode this excursion. I was in Silver Lariat, seated nearest to the door-less side of the dome car.

      Gotta provide power to the passenger cars. The 4449 doesn't come with a generator or alternator
