With their trademark humor and unfiltered honesty, they delve into the question of whether they themselves exhibit narcissistic traits and share personal anecdotes that provide a glimpse into their own self-reflection. Additionally, the dynamic duo explores the broader theme of narcissism within the drag queen community, and how the term is being used on platforms like TikTok. With a mix of humor and self-awareness, Bob and Monet offer viewers a thought-provoking and entertaining exploration of this buzzword.

      @@SMAnthonyWbut then again, I’m from a small country and I don’t know the number of provinces in our nearest neighboring country (even smaller). I wouldn’t be able to name more than two even if I know a lot of city names and som general geography. We basically speak the same language and share both history and culture but that wouldn’t help either. I’m 41 and generally pretty knowledgeable, but that question would stump me. Let’s normalize not knowing everything, it’s not a sign of disinterest or lack of respect.

    Narcissism has always been a pathological disorder and its only been since mental health awareness has made a huge shift into the zeitgeist that we use that term commonly and incorrectly. Narcissism is never a good thing, its always a problem. Big ego is probably what monet means

    I think that most people, when in their own country talking to others from that country, will use a region or province name to give context, especially when talking about a smaller town or city. They also know that information isn't really useful when talking to foreigners so they just say the country name. Us narcissistic Americans tend to assume foreigners just know about the US inherently so we add the state regardless

    • @talynhastime9343
      @talynhastime9343 11 месяцев назад

      I’ve traveled abroad a bit and non-North Americans will ask me “oh where you from?” and when I say the US they ask “what state” and I tell them and they have no idea where it is. This has happened multiple times. Also, I don’t think it’s American narcissism-Americans are simply trained to think of their place in space in relation to a region within a continent-sized country. Each state has its own distinct culture, geography, infrastructure, political history, ethnic makeup, and general history, so of course we’re going to be more inclined to give our state. British people will give their county or city of origin when asked where they’re from because, much like the US, every inch of the UK is unique and distinct in its own right in a way almost no other part of the world is, simply by how things shook out historically and economically. Again, I don’t say my state out of narcissism but because simply stating your country of origin tells people absolutely nothing, and anyone who assumes telling someone your country of origin and just your country of origin gives anyone any insight on who you are is fooling themselves. We should be introducing ourselves by city or state/province and then country, no matter where we’re from.

    some people with NPD perceive themself to be empathetic because they are so accustomed to projecting they simply mistake their own emotions as belonging to others.
    some people with NPD experience empathy and are able to understand other people's emotions but place zero value on those emotions except as instruments for manipulation.
    some people with NPD are legit cool and spend a ton of energy managing their empathy disability for the benefit of the people they come into contact with.
    ones where ones is due, tens where tens is due!

      @kaylinsmith6921 11 месяцев назад

      Thank you! I don't have NPD, but I've been diagnosed with BPD, and the way people just assume you're an inherent abuser is so disheartening. Abuse is always a choice, and many of us fight every day to make sure that we're not putting any harm out into the world.
      I always ask: Which is worse? Having empathy and choosing to not use it, or having impaired empathy and still trying your best? People *really* complain about "you don't have empathy," and then turn around and refuse to have any, like that person had a choice in the matter.

    (43:20) Kudos to Bob for putting in the work on himself and calling out flippant criticisms of his "politically correct" statements. Anyone who reacts to someone pointing out problematic wording/behavior with accusations of "wokeness" or "virtue signaling" clearly doesn't realize that the whole point of these "woke" statements is to be more inclusive by highlighting and removing the tools of discrimination and oppression. The only reason you would have an issue with that is if you think (either intentionally or subconsciously) that those tools are still useful (usually to oppress others for your own benefit).

    I have highly narcissistic parents one of them likely has flew blown NPD who I no longer have contact with. Both of them have those qualities due to significant early childhood trauma. We all have some levels of narcissism but the key for folks who are HIGH on the spectrum are low empathy for others and self-absorption that doesn’t allow them to look beyond their own pain and needs as well as very low self-awareness of their impact on others. They have a tendency to make every conversation and action about themselves. Also being raised by those types of parents makes you prone to attaching to highly narcissistic folks as an adult bc it’s normalized.

    As someone who is cluster B (what Narcissistic Personality Disorder is) with two cluster B siblings (I have BPD and one sibling has BPD and another ASPD), it's so refreshing how Bob goes into the discussion not wanting to go off of stereotypes and armchair diagnosing (a big problem....) right off the bat, especially considering a big component to why we get these disorders is from trauma ❤❤ People definitely have ableist stereotypes about cluster Bs, sometimes from experiences of those who they did in fact armchair diagnose, when not every person with a personality disorder is abusive and not every abusive person has a personality disorder..... I'm always so on edge when I hear people go to discuss them, and it's so nice to hear people who do not just go into straight negativity on the topic 🥹🥹

I think of each state being it’s own individual thing, we just all agreed to be under one constitution. most other countries are so small compared to the united states. and places like Russia or China are much more nationalist than we are so they kinda think of the entire country as one thing. We have three territories, the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. Each of our provinces are huge except for the 4 maritime provinces in the East. Quebec is the largest province, in the world. It is bigger than Alaska, the biggest US state, and twice the size of Texas, but has only a 3rd of the population of Texas. Only Siberia in Russia is bigger than Quebec, but it is made up of several smaller units called oblasts, which is Russia's equivalent to a province or state.

    Islam is similar to Christianity and Judaism. They have a lot of the same teachings and tell the same stories, same characters, same god. The main difference between Christianity and Islam is the prominence and position of Jesus. Plus the Quran is in Arabic instead of Hebrew. If Christianity is a continuation of Judaism, Islam is a continuation of Christianity
