very wonderful performances!! Thanks for this. It's an echo of a time between wars for Afghanistan....something to aspire to in the near future - a return of arts and culture and stability and peace. Tashakor.

Actually they are doing wrong by playing musical instruments & delighting the audience as per Islamic belief. Playing music along with singing songs praising god is one of the effective & easy way to connect with the god as per our Hindu Sikh beliefs. But in Islam it is kufra act which is punishable offence even upto death penalty. Now a days TALIBAN are ruling over there all cinema & music theatres are closed since last @ 1& 1/2 years.
These are original musical instruments of NE Afghanistan that happen to be shared by the peoples of NW India. In places like Kabul you will find Sarinda and Delruba similar to those in NW India. The Tanbur is a uniquely Afghan instrument as well.
@@DGR233They belong to South Asia as whole. Saying a specific country is incomplete for their history. Aside, indeed these are astonishingly similar. For instruments like Sarinda, we have various similar instruments. We got Sarangi in Himalayan areas, Ghyzek in middle east, Kobyz in Kazakhstan (their national instrument), Suroz in Balochistan (Pakistan), Sarinda in Rajasthan and Punjab. Specifically, the sarinda is believed to have been formed by Sikh guru Arjan Dev ji.
Dilruba is not a Punjabi word so it's our instrument . The Mardana who was the best friend of Guru Nanak, introduced the rubab and Dilruba to Sikh people.
That historic Afghanistan, not sure if we can see them playing again. 04:30 That Esraj (Afghan Dilruba) part is heart touching. Love from Great Britain. (Mon 10 Aug 2020 0010)
Thanks a million for posting. What a wonderful festival. I am only beginning to appreciate how amazing it must have been to be there and to experience all this music. This is beyond anything we get to have in the U.S. Once again, thank you.
Good and better times, indeed. There was no war in Afghanistan, nor Islamic regime in Iran. In those times, we were all brothers. Same language, close cultures, one history,.. now I only see hatred and racism between us. Pity. I wish those times come back. I wanna see all persianspeakers from Afghansitan, Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaiyan, Turkey, Irak, Bahrein, Turkemenistan and Pakistan all together again.
Yes, there is so so so much racism in Iran against Afghans. it’s very heartbreaking. We speak the same language yet we’re mocked for our accent/dialect. Even more than just mocking, even attacked 😢. A big shame.
wonderful wonderful wonderful i keep trying to coax this music from my drums and everyone that i jam with wonderful and magikal beyond any words i can say
Stuff like this makes me grateful for the internet. (I listened to this 10 years ago when I joined RUclips. Before that I had no idea how old original Afghan music sounded like.)
Very nice!!!...On Zair baghalee(arabic style drum) is ustad Malang and the regular Tabla is Ustad Hashim. I used to have this recording on VHS but have lost thru the years. Thanks for great upload.
i know what you mean by the electronic keyboard stuff they use these days. i play an afghan instrument called rubab and i try to bring the traditional music back. i plan on trying to play the afghan tanboor played in the first part of this video. i love the sound of it, i listen to gholom bahuddin's tanboor. it's very nice. oh and great videos.
That's great. We here in Himalayan area (Himachal , India) are trying to revive our version of rubab back into life. I specifically like playing it. With sufficient practice n modifications, new gen will rejuvenate these instruments back, i believe.
I do not to whether to be happy or sad. I am happy to see such works but it sadness me as I fail to see such beauty in our current time. Music is evolving, that is for sure, but I do not what is its evolving to! Thank you PS: Where can I find the entire video?
Check the drum duel video I also uploaded where zerbaghali master Malang and dhol master Gholalam demonstrate their unbelievable skills. This group 's concert at the Shiraz Arts Festival was due to my efforts to arrange their appearance there and so I felt their expertise should be shared on video. Dr. Lloyd Miller
Indeed. Afghanistan followes Hindustani classical music. Many Afghan musicians have taken training at India at some point, so as to keep their culture alive.
Beautiful! How come the picture and sound of Persian performance are so low? Is there anybody, may be archive section of the "National Iranian Television" has the original one? Please if any one has the original documents share it with the world! Thank you!
