    Initially I bought nike trail shoes (Peg Trail 3) just to help giving me comfort while out photographing birds in the local park and I'm not a runner. Then I bought the Zegama, it is so comfy that I started enjoying running too.

  • @jmiscischia
    @jmiscischia Год назад +6

    I raced the MCC on UTMB with these Zegama yesterday. I usually run with Salomon shoes, mostly slab ones, so I'm used to very precise and light shoes. I bought the Zegama to test something different and see of the zoomx foam really had something to the package. After 42km and +2500m I am really happy and surprise by the shoes. There are really comfortable and supportive. The grip is not bad but not as good as Vibram outsoles. It does the job on dry terrains. It's not a precise shoe but it remains quite stable, I don't have any problems on chamonix trails with it. For me, the big concern is the weight, I think Nike can do much better, but otherwise I really happy and really surprise by this shoes. I will use it more on my trainings (I live in the alps) to see if my first impressions are confirm. I just can tell that it was the first time on a 40km trail race that I finish with no pain on my feet! I don't think there are only made for long distance, I think it depend on what the runner wants. If you want something comfortable, easy and really plush, the Zegama will be perfect for you. Be carefull with the sizing, there are really true to size.

    Great video Ben, I guess the elephant in the room is that the Zegama is not pure ZoomX like Alphafly and Vaporfly but is mixed into a carrier foam mentioned below, so more like the Zoom Fly 5, which has not exactly set the running world on fire. Still, if it works for you, that's great!

    Nice run video. I really enjoyed watching it. Yours was the first positive review of the shoe. It is pretty heavy for a trail racing shoe. BTW, it does not need additional protection in exposed places because it is encased in SR02 foam so ZoomX is not exposed.

    Ben, it's a nice looking shoe and looks comfortable but I wonder about it's suitability on technical trails, namely the high stack height and the loss of ground feel. The Zegama tag is ambitious - Zegama is quite technical in nature - just wonder if it's not more of a 'runnable' ultra shoe. Be interested to hear further thoughts.
