I feel like you guys are what the war gaming hobby is all about, at least to me. Good friends, good hobby, interest in history, amazing games and a wonderful community. Cheers 🍻
Thanks so much, germs. Entertaining and educational as ever. Alexander, kidney stones are no fun. Grant, you’ve also had your trials and tribulations with a health event, and I’m glad to see you both well and back here together. We have a group that meets weekly, often for miniatures, but for board games our go-to is advanced civilization, also Kingmaker, and…ahem… Black Orchestra. I’ve found GMT’s Plains Indian Wars to be a very good historical/war/euro style game for four players with some interesting twists. Battle for Baghdad from MCS is a good game for up to six factions with different characteristics.
Great show guys. I sit here watching as I open my latest package from Noble Knight. Great company. You're right about the notification email from Noble Knight. You better jump on it, or it's gone. Alexander- I feel you bud. I just experienced my SIXTH kidney stone in the last 24 years (including 3 times they had to go in). Thanks for the show!
The other week went to a tournament and played a Seven Hour Game Monster two player against a regular opponent. The social side of it is a steady trickle of other players coming over to see the "big" game asking how its going or just saying Hello. The first Tournament is always a bit daunted but after a while you sort of know most of the people and get friendly. Its a Nice thing.
Spent many a happy hour playing Machiavelli during my student years in the mid-1980s. Great fun, though it always seemed to peter out indevisively in the end.
Last week my friend strongly recommended the book Twilight World by Werner Herzog. That happens to also be about Hiro Onoda and his extended WWII experience!
Space Empires 4x is an epic 4 player game. My friends and I play it once a year and it takes a full day. But it is such a fun game. Play play a house rule to decide allies (first two to meet roll a die and the roll determines if they are allie or enemy. If enemy, then the next two to meet roll, etc. If those two are not allies, then the last pair is allied). Very interesting, because the first several ecomonic rounds are done without knowing who your ally will be.
luv your gaming enthusiasm you bring to the table, as a only solo player. can't get into multiplayer as i know i'll never own em , i need to visit the states to go to a con
So I ordered Purple Haze through gamefound. I mentioned in the comments that I purchased that game because of the review on TPA. I hope this helps the channel.
By taking in consideration that you very much enjoyed the new Warfighter i think of purchasing it. Is your excitement based just on the core game or did you guys played it with expansions? Will it be enough to buy just the core game or will it be a watered down experience?
We have (subsequent to filming this) played more, and with some expansion content. The general rule for all warfighter is: Core box plus the two: 'more soldiers' expansions. that way you just get it all fleshed out even more. Everything else is fluff you can add if you like it, will actually commit to playing it, and want more.
@ThePlayersAid thanks for the advice! Unfortunately that increases the price of the game a lot, probably i should wait to see if some black friday deals come up. Have you played the campaign module also? Is it worth it?
Have you guys played Red Dust Rebellion yet? I also highly recommend Cube4Me My orders typically e take about three to four weeks (Poland to OH) with most of that time spent in Customs.
try Struggle of Empires Deluxe at 6 or 7 players. Martin Wallace, great components, area control, alliances, bidding, negotiation, upgrades, varying strategies, epic. do it.
I am trying to get into GMT war games and am looking for one to start with that plays equally well at 1 or 2 players, that takes less than 4 hours per session. I have hundreds of board games and am no stranger to 4.5 complexity games. Do you (or any of your subscribers) have a few recommendations to help me break into this area of the board game hobby? Preferably one that is not out of print? :) Based on your videos that I scoured, The British Way looked promising, but alas, it is OOP. My goal would be to learn it solo, then help a friend play against me. Update: after much more research, I decided to P500: 1) Solitaire Ops: Ortona 2) The British Way And pick up: A Gest of Robin Hood, once 2nd printing is released, to start me out.
I have never understood why games where people are going to be concerned about spoilers don't include a scenario or something that illustrates the game for teaching and for reviews, but stands outside the rest of the gameplay. Seems like a no-brainer.

Love this. Thanks so much for the kind words, gents. It was great seeing you back in October and at SDHistCon.
"Utterly ruthless, check your feelings." Great stuff! ;D
And, discussing collaborative benefits of the gaming community. Thanks for being open.

Funnily enough, I received a "Wish Granted!" email from Noble Knight right at the exact moment I was watching you discuss emails from Noble Knight!
The power of positive thinking!

yeeeeeesh - I do not envy you that, but hopefully the NKG packages make up for the times when you had kidney stones!

I received my shipping notice for Purple Haze today and cannot wait to receive my pledge! I look forward to see your opinions on the final product!

Kidney stones SUCK,!!! Most fun I ever had in a hospital emergency room. Truth.
Hi guys you are great thank you :-).
I absolutely loved I, Napoleon. Can you imagine an I, Caesar or an I, Adolf?
I'm not sure the working title for the WWII one would make it past the marketing department 😅
As one of those 5 players, I just always do my own thing :)
I’d love to see “I, Lincoln”!
I got rid of the insert in The Thing. It was causing damage to the board and I was like “nope!”
If you haven't read it already, read Matterhorn by Karl Malantes while playing Purple Haze. Hands down the best book on Vietnam
Might want to check out the new SAS Rogue regiment Kickstarter. You'll see why that box is too big.
I do not think you are in the minority regarding Warfighter Fantasy. I had to give up on it. I have not heard anyone say they had a good experience.
I think I've heard literally one person, and one person only who liked it. I have no idea how.

Oh, interesting, whenever we order (to IN) it's like 7-10 days total, typically on the lower end.
You guys cost me money every time i watch! What is noble knight code, teeing up an order?
@@douglewis1273 We no longer have a code. Sorry.

I think that's what the pnp demo scenario is for, but.. yeah..
I'm obviously not looking in the right place: Where's the Cube4Me affiliate link?
Under the title click more.

what's the site where you play Machiavelli?
@@shanecagney7451 it’s a private pbem done over vassal, hosted on a private chat

I would add Mare Nostrum with 5 players, and Napoleonic Wars to the list. Great video.
We've not played The Napoleonic Wars - but would love to at some point! Mare Nostrum is an absolute banger as well.
Vuca game's, the other side of the hill ,,,,, any information on that one , interested 🎠🦩
