I Love Mine … Dover Pearl manual 3G GTS with sun roof. Purchased this one because I both my 1985 and 1986 Mazda RX7’s (manuals) My 3G is a Solid car…needs both gaskets changed out, but it runs great!!! Fun, Fun, Fun!!! Dashboard is always cracked in these things…. I would love to see the cover that you’re going to use. Going to keep it and put a few bucks into to keep it rolling. Paid $800 about three years ago. Thank for this video…. It Confirms that it’s a keeper!!!!
@@dannyj1865 hey bro you can get a variety of covers at rockauto, I do have another video and a driving video where you can see the cover if you want to check it out. But yeah you can find all kinds of them at rockauto
I bought a 2002 gt spyder convertible last november from the son of the original owner. Picked it up for 400 dollars from under a tree. Gave myself a budget of 3k to restore it. I have all the parts i need to finish and i have only driven it once and i love this thing. I also have a 99 mustang gt convertible and it saddens me but once this eclipse is done im gonna have to decide which to sell. The mustang has an almost identical story having been bought for 350 dollars from the original owners son. I have driven that to Tx several times and it is currently my baby but the closer i get to finish the spyder the more im convinced that its not going to be easy to decide which to sell.
Great video. I bought an 04 Gts Spyder 5 spd with 62k miles in July 2023 & I love it. It seems very well engineered and very well built. I agree with you the suspension is very sophisticated and supple. Its no HP monster, but i'm happy with the acceleration, which is linear & strong & it is happy to cruise the interstate at 80 mph. And i love looking at it with the top down.
Best car ever. Would drive it forever, but here, in eastern eu, in winters, roads are so icy, they're spreading too much salt and all that chemical shit... Body startet to rust hard. Underneath you can, like, make holes with your fingers. And the structowers are almost destroyed aswell, even though I have had to repair them like 3 times now. So sad. Nothing is eternal( especially cars.
@@brandonn5408 I would, but you really need to find out when the timing belt / water pump were changed. The belts good for 100k miles or 7 years, whichever comes first. Its an interference engine so if it breaks, you’re breaking valves etc in the engine. You need to be comfortable either doing that job, or paying for it. Outside of that, yes very good. Common issue with these cars is the iac: idle air control valve, that’s about it. And that’s super easy to replace like 10min.
@@TeamGun he sent receipts for both of them being changed about two years ago at 100k, at a mechanic shop as well along with front struts, tie rods, some kind of ball joints ( i’m not super knowledgeable) and he’s asking 3k which sounds pretty decent for me. it’s a manual as well so hopefully no tranny issues
have you dealt with leaks when it rains because thats what im dealing with right now on the driver side its annoying and i cant find the seals to replace them
No, but what I'd do in the mean while is maybe pick up some kind of natural rubber sealant. I remember on my last spyder I was dumb enough to take it through an auto car wash a few times and it got water in the car the first time. I'd used a product that was all natural and made for boots and safe for rubber, I'd coated all the rubber trim and when I went through the next time it didn't get water in. I can't remember the name of the product. Another thing you can do for the canvas is get a water proofing spray that is waxed based and mean for tents, you can use that for the top. Lastly any kind if rips or tears, sewing with fishing line works really well because its very strong and transparent. Good luck bro.
If you got a sunroof for me for the longest time it was leaking even messed my stereos up, the sunroof has drain holes that were clogged that’s what got puddles of water in my car and had plant life growing in it, all I did was stick a wire hanger down those holes and it fixed
I got a 3G Spyder. It's my baby! thanks for the love
Awesome that you still have the window sticker!

would you recommend this as a first car/ daily driver? i’m currently looking at a 2003 GT with 130k miles but seems like pretty good maintenance
