I hated history in school. Flunked, had to retake it in summer school. The reacher walked in, drew a line across the whole blackboard, and filled in some of these events. Great teacher. I loved history from then on, but there’s a lot I don’t know, lol.
This really may be the best video ever made by one person. He spent almost 2 years, from start to finish, on it(and judging from the views, he's gotten PAID lol). I really think this should be shown in every high school, and then broken down and taught in segments. Take those bits, dive deeper into the subjects, and then move on to the next part of the vid.
My 9yr old can quote the entire thing! Maybe inappropriate language but it sparks laughter and many questions. We look up what he seeks out and he already has a better understanding of world history than he will ever be exposed to in school.

By the way it was the Majapahit empire (never heard of it before this video). Everything else was just refresher, very broad and general knowledge that any high school graduate should already know (then again I do read history and science books for the fun of it).

@@RavenMacy , It's true that the only empire/event from this video that I was not already familiar with was the Majapahit Empire and took about one minute to Google (look up the correct spelling in the video and type in Google), however that may be a bit misleading because I then spent about an hour reading over the information found in Wikipedia. I may be off on my claim that any high school grad should already have this knowledge. It's been over 40 years since I was last in high school and I have a hard time differentiating whether I learned it in high school or from: history book club membership, college history classes, reading historical fiction, watching the History Channel/Discovery/National Geographic/Nova etc... and more recently the internet . I also find science fascinating, as an atheist I've debated in the comments section Young Earth Creationists, about the big bang, abiogenesis, evolution, etc..., so I am also intimately familiar with the beginning of the video.

But Cheryl Hartwig got me thinking that maybe it isn't so common after all. From my earliest memories I've always been interested in history (originally ancient civilizations was the period I favored the most). After exhausting the literature from the classical period I soon discovered that I enjoyed reading just about every country's history from all timelines. About the only history I got bored with was my own US History, mainly because I had a lot of classes in school and they kept repeating themselves ( I still enjoy reading US Civil War and WWI & WWII).

They’re a series of books that explains many different topics of all kinds in “laymen’s terms”, making them easier to understand. This could be “History for Dummies”, although I had to watch this a few times in order to follow it 🤔🤔🤔

A lot of the oil we use today isn't from dinosaurs, most of it is from prehistoric plankton and algae AKA "plant matter"
