If you're referring to the wood briquettes, this trial came about due in part to connections between MOTAT and Scion Energy. However, I don't see why other rail heritage groups wouldn't benefit and it may well be that larger locomotives with more demanding tasks such as mainline trips could trial it. Having a diesel backup on those trips would be likely I imagine.
