"Diamonds are forever like my infinite thought, Like respect in the hood that can't be bought." - Guru 9 years after his death still rippin' the realest bars
Guru has been gone since February 2010 (nearly 12 years). 🙏 He died from a blood cancer known as 'Multiple Myeloma' but his legacy in Hip Hop remains stronger than ever to this day. DJ Premier is still the G.O.A.T. for records. I used to have Pete Rock in the Top 3 but I met him 2 years ago in NY and he was Racist Piece of Garbage. Pete Rock literally refused to sign Soul Survivor albums for anyone that wasn't "black looking" to him.
He kind of went backwards with the message though. He comes in and contradicts everything they're comparing to diamonds: family, loyalty, respect. He goes on to bash them and says dudes are dumb for having diamonds making about materialism when the message wasn't materialism to begin with. I could be wrong though
Guru lives on in the hearts of all real heads helpin keep the beat to your life.. Big RespEcT bald head slick..Rest easy. Big up Premier, thank you for this putting together this album and the rest of the Gangstarr Foundation
