The Falcon Heavy test flight (also known as Falcon Heavy demonstration mission) was the first attempt by SpaceX to launch a Falcon Heavy rocket on February 6, 2018 at 20:45 UTC. The successful test introduced the Falcon Heavy as the most powerful rocket in operation, producing five million pounds-force (22 MN) of thrust and having more than twice the lift capacity of United Launch Alliance's Delta IV Heavy.
The dummy payload for this test flight was a sports car, Tesla Roadster, owned by Elon Musk. Sitting in the driver's seat of the Roadster is "Starman", a dummy astronaut clad in a SpaceX spacesuit.
It was launched with sufficient velocity to escape the Earth and enter an elliptic orbit around the Sun that crosses the orbit of Mars, reaching an aphelion (maximum distance from the Sun) of 1.66 AU. During the early portion of its voyage it functioned as a broadcast device, sending video back to Earth for four hours. The Roadster remains attached to the second stage.
Both boosters successfully landed almost simultaneously on the ground at Landing Zones 1 and 2 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

I've never thought watching 2 rockets landing vertically would make me cry so much. This never gets old and I come back to refill lost inspiration. I can proudly say THIS is the Greatest thing I've ever witnessed in my lifetime.

Agree!! Grew up in the Mercury, Gemini, Saturn rockets and Apollo missions! Brings back memories of being crowed around the B&W vacuum tube tv watching the launches with the family being so nervous and cheering and jumping around on launch.

The first landing on the moon gave the humanity the feeling that everything was possible. This feeling came back with the landing of the first stage. Great respect for those who made and makes this possible. Can't want to see Starships first orbital flight.

I think it's about time to say, that you duly appreciate the outstanding performance of Elon Musk, and his staff at Space X. They have revolutionized space travel in a relatively small period of time.
The real thing is already so amazing, no need to add the CGI to it. Amazing editing and audio.
This first launch of FH will never get old for me. The emotion it arouses always surprises me. We, as a species, are an enigma... capable of great things, impossible things... yet we squabble amongst ourselves over petty differences. Differences that, in the big picture, mean about as much as a mouse fart in a hurricane.

Even someone with almost no engineering or technical knowledge can understand that packing a vessel full of explosives launching it to space is much easier than designing to make it land back to the earth in one piece.
Making it back into Aircon beast has more much advantages economically that’s what makes it Elon innovate this technique
