I had a friend that took me over to his house for lunch.. his mom and Abuela made some of the most INCREDIBLE food, that I've ever eaten in my entire life! I was SHELTERED with food. Now, nearly 25 years later.. My house is filled with all different types of foods, and I frequent the mexican market on the corner, as I tend to eat some form of latin food, atleast 3x a week. YES! my kids have been in the kit hen with me their entire life. They're now 23F, 14M and 14M and all 3 can cook a full meal for the family. I don't want my kids having to depend on ANYONE else in adulthood.

The influence of men cooking in our home is a respected thing, We all have our own dishes we make the best, my son’s specialty is Pasta with meat sauce but he tries everything. My husband, his father just passed a month ago so he’s been taking on all his recipes he learned through the years, hoping to perfect Dads Dominican dishes. Potlucks are some of my favorite memories in school. My mom made enchiladas for my class once and everyone raved about them. It was such a feel good moment. Now, schools where I live do not allow outside food at all. If it’s outside food it has to be store bought, and no candy, cupcakes, etc. has to be healthy. Unless it’s a pizza party at the end of the year.

Thank you Jenny. My parents always made me do everything for my brothers. They are still useless. I always tried to teach them that way, have them do it themselves. They just ask me to do it or they would get mad. Parents really do a disservice to their children when they try to do everything for them, or make someone else do it.
