I miss Lombard hobbies....im always hoping my job gets me a load up there...i need 2 SP SD40Rs to strip, redetail and repaint....put some GE sideframes on it so i can model ALL 9465 and 9466
I’m glad we have a more modern run of these units, but what gets me about the model the most is the lack of the sand filler hatches on the nose, that’s one of the Bessemer’s most recognizable locomotive features. Guess that’s something I’ll have to add myself. Cutos to Athearn for not forgetting the mars light!
Not a bad review of the Bessemer & Lake Erie SD38AC 866. The real one is still around Point Yard in Stevens Point, WI unless it must've gotten a new assignment. I have to say though, I like that look and might score one someday if I'm lucky.
Thankyou, and I bought it because I model 2017-present, and it worked the Kirk yard pulldown job for a few months, so that’s the set in the runby! Thanks for watching!
Patch it out orange and slap a Union R.R. herald on it. U.R.R. had some (4-5) from Bessemer & Lake Eire. I think #'s 50 - 54? The B&LE is good, think they interchange with Union R.R.

I hope to go back soon!

No problem 👍

Same here
I have actually seen this locomotive in real life in stevens point, WI. Nice to see this locomotive as a model
I was happy as well, been waiting almost 2 years since announcement
I have a photo of it coupled to a GTW GP38-2. I used it as my wallpaper for awhile

Fabulous! You're welcome.
Nice Eli
Thank you
Great review nice locomotive great price too
Thanks Mike, and yea $185 ain’t too bad, makes me feel like we’re back in 2012
Just as nice as the IRL counterparts, although something im not particularly fond of is the red steps as it looks off to me, great review!
They are very nice indeed, the steps are accurate although some might not want the prime for grime look. The lighting is my only complaint.
Mine ended breaking because the plow/front was too low for my tracks
I’m sorry about that, but if only the plow broke, details west sells plows and you could get a replacement from Athearn themselves

I plan to use it as a pulldown set
