  • In this video, Dario talks about our experience with the new coffee refractometer from Difluid: the R2 Extract.
How does it compare to other refractometers? Should you add it to your home brewing setup? Why you might benefit from measuring refraction and what refraction of coffee even means. We answer it all in this video.
Thank you to the team at DiFluid for sending us one of their production models to test.

Watching this video was the first time that I understood why using a refractometer was worthwhile (to indicate if you are extracting all of the potential flavor). Thanks for enlightening me. very clear video thanks.

Remember there is a range, you don't want to extract too much.

The readings were consistently different ie different by the same variance across many samples. Here is a comprehensive article sharing broad results: rmckeon.medium.com/difluid-r2-vs-atago-for-espresso-a62b302cbda0
