i feel ya. i just accept it as some ppl (and some "faiths") have principles/doctrines they follow to avoid over-indulgence. i'm church of God in Christ - we abstain from alcohol as a standard. we dont look down on others who socially drink but we recognize the door being opened for the enemy to slip in and cause "problems" so we eliminate the door.
The problem with social drinking is the Bible says not to be drunk.Tipsy is drunk. (Ephesians 5:11, and others). Your inhibitions are down when you're drunk and your susceptible to all types of suggestions and behavior. The Word also says to be sober-minded (Titus 2:12, and 1 Peter 5:8) . That doesn't mean you have to be super serious but does mean to be clear-headed. The point is to not put yourself in a position to sin and alcohol is a really easy way to slip into sin. Why play with it?
@teddyv50 You're right alcohol isn't the problem. It's drunkness. Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit. Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise.
i am in the industry i agree bout drinking part ...but i feel when i dont drink during my socializing i feel my lite stands out more when i dont have a drink in my hand in public and you stand out for Christ especially in this messed up industry i am born into ... so i dont drink for Christ
@teddyv50 drinking is not a sin but for some and a lot drinking tends to lead to sinful behavior. And the Lord said our bodies are temples and sometimes drinking and smoking are used as a crutch or a dependent then we have a problem we go to the bottle or to the cigarette or weed or crack to alleviate things instead of giving it to GOD, and that becomes s our god, instead of HIM.
I like David and tamela but, I always wonder why some people who consider themselves "saved" put so much emphasis on not drinking, drinking is not a sin and there are passages in the bible that encourages giving wine to those that are bereaved and feeling low. I agree that we shouldn't abuse alcohol but socializing is acceptable. Read Gods word for yourself and pray for clarity.
And your abomination comes from you being as judgmental as you are. At least they admit to not being perfect (including Tyler), u need to try it and get down off your high horse.
You can't deny that kind of Joy in Christ. To finally get this faith is awesome!
AMEN. THANK YOU LORD, JESUS. THANK YOU LORD.
