You'll need about 120vdc minimum coming in from your panels to excite the inverter to start making power. Keep that in mind when setting up your strings to get that going as early in the morning as possible. Max AC output from a single inverter is 50amps. 240 volts, 25 amps each phase with surge capacity of 100 amps for 25 seconds. Or 6000 watts with 12,000 watts surge capacity for 25 seconds.
When you get to batteries, assuming you're not DIYing the battery packs. The EG4 LifePower batteries are about as cheap as they come. No bells and whistles but they will communicate with your inverter. Other brands may or probably won't. You'll need two of them since the minimum battery capacity is 200ah. Most server rack batteries are 48v 100ah packs. There are some larger starting to show up but...... Not much if any to be saved and again may not communicate. Although it's not essential that they do communicate. You set up the inverter charging profile and it does the charging. The battery pack BMS is there to manage the cells and protect the battery from over and under charging.
In a nutshell that's about it. Don't let the data hounds make it sound overly complicated, they do but it's not necessary.
And yes, Will is a great resource. If you haven't ran across him yet, look up Off-Grid Garage also. Andy digs into those charging parameters you'll need no matter which inverter you're using and presents it well.

At this time of year I get direct sun as soon as it's over the horizon right up to sunset. Immediately hits 230ish vdc.
Thanks for the info. This isn't my first solar system, just the biggest so far. Any information is good to have

Thanks for video!! Hope to get same unit this summer. One thing you may want to check on is I think they recommend installation on fireboard or concrete board.

Hey Steve, You may want to at least paint your white plumbing 90's primer gray to blend in a little better with the gray electrical PVC. The plumbing 90's do work a lot better than the large arc of the normal electrical 90 bend.

@@donaldhoudek2889 I went with the large arch because of the thickness of the wires running through it. I'm actually going to reconfigure the layout in a few months when I have helping hands

Cool unit, Will P is a wealth of information! maybe have separate switches for the lights, be able to turn on a portion of them instead of all of them everytime. Would be good to see you install anything, but that's a bit more difficult than a walk through and those are mighty appreciated! Thanks and have a great day 💙

I'd have liked to record the installation but the close quarters mean you'd be watching my back.

Videos keep saying it’s all in one unit and that’s close but not entirely accurate. It has no DC breakers. It has a DC disconnect. So after a friend ordered his we had to start searching for a way to do the DC overcurrent protection. All we have found so far is inline fuses which kinda sucks.

All in one in this case means it has a charge controller, a battery charger, and an inverter all together in one unit.
In most cases it would be connected to a 110 load center. There is no 12v output.
For 12v you would connect to the batteries. I searched for 12v breakers and found multiple sources.

      @SteampunkSteve  8 месяцев назад +1

I am using it without batteries. However the inverter trips off when I try using a few power tools, like my contractor table saw. I think it has to do with the extra boost that batteries may give.

This lightweight, high frequency, transformerless inverter only offers a 2X surge capacity for 3.5 seconds. That's not enough to even start most of my off grid home's inductive loads. So thanks, but no thanks.

Will Prowse and other videos show it starting inductive loads. But, yes, there are low frequency inverters with higher surge capacity.

They just released a new 12k hybrid version one step up from this one. I think it’s like 2x the cost, but at least it’s not as expensive as their 18k top of the line version which is like 3.5x the cost. You really are just getting what you’re paying for tbh.

No need to worry. It's bone. I hit my head in that same spot 3 times within 6 months when I worked in a factory. I got off that machine after that. A few Dr's have looked at it and confirmed my skull grew thicker there
