    Thanks for highlighting Mike Zeck, he's one of the all-time best cover artists and I feel he's always been under appreciated :)

    $1500 for all those pedigrees was worth it! I see asm 252 behind you, cgc 9.8 newsstand. I bought two copies after school as the magazine guy was leaving 7-11 and picked the best looking books. Had them graded four years ago and both got 9.8. Still in my pc!

    As always, great video. Power Man is one of my very favorite Marvel heroes but, the series lost its luster for me when he teamed with Iron Fist. Again, that is just me. Loved solo title.

    Out of a collection of around 2,000 Comics I have slabbed 230 so far. I have learned so much about the grading process and your channel has helped me so much. Thank you I think I saved a little money in the process. Ultimately, I would like to trade the collection for some really nice ECs from the 50s. Wally Wood,Frank Frazetta, Al Williamson, Bernard Krigstein,-need I say more?

    That pair of Worlds Unknown reminds me of the reason why (and time frame when) I quit buying new comics. Not too long after publication of your early-70's Worlds Unknown issues, those intrusive UPC boxes began to appear at the lower left front cover. I think it was 1976. I thought that garish addition really diminished the impact of a lot of the best cover art (and, well, really ... all cover art). Imagine for a moment Silver Surfer # 4 with a UPC bar on the cover. Anybody like it better with the code bar? Yikes! I remember reading somewhere at the time that the UPC code was placed on the front cover, rather than the back cover, because of the value to the publisher of the back cover as advertising space. I was, what? Disheartened? Ticked off? I dunno, but I stopped buying new comics over just that issue.

      I can relate! I used to pass on newsstands because I didn’t like the way they looked. Can you imagine if they put a UPC on something like swamp thing 1 or some of the other crazy good covers from the 70s? It would be a crying shame.

    I have to ask, being a new collector, what does Pedigree mean in a comic book?

    • @futurepastvintagecollectables
      @futurepastvintagecollectables  11 месяцев назад

      A pedigree is a collection of comic books that comes to market that has been deemed exceptional by a few specific standards. In many cases they are original owner collections, there are more than 5000 books and they are high grade. Pedigree’s typically have qualities such as white pages, glossy covers, etc. and at times are the best examples of the books.

      That was going to be my first comment as well. I thought the beard looked good. I am partial as I have a beard. Can't grow it on my head. You don't seem to have that problem. 😂
