Even though the HR-V has never been our favorite Honda SUV, we can still confidently suggest it as a good entry-level option in the very competitive subcompact SUV market. Despite its sluggishness, the HR-V retains the practicality and delightful ride quality that Honda is known for. Some of its competitors are the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Subaru Crosstrek, and Toyota Corolla Cross.
Regarding the 2025 HR-V, we do not foresee any significant modifications. With a more refined design, upgraded interior technology, standard driver assistance, and a stronger engine, Honda debuted the current-generation model for 2023. We expect a midcycle refresh for the 2026 model year and, as the HR-V is based on the same platform as the current Civic, we could see a hybrid HR-V model in the near future.
By incorporating several desirable features from the Civic platform into a compact SUV body style, Honda has created its most user-friendly crossover to date. Consumers may expect the same high-end upholstery as before, with honeycomb mesh spanning the length of the cabin and the preferred method of operation being physical buttons and knobs rather than a touchscreen. With its generous array of safety and infotainment options, the HR-V manages to avoid coming across as cheap.
The minor transition Is also a joy to handle in urban areas, thanks to its steady handling and pinpoint steering. Comfortable riding and dampening of body motions are hallmarks of fully independent suspension, which isn't always the case in the budget market.
