That's not really true most wounded soldiers died because lack of treatment or medicine this isn't modern warfare, armies that routed often lost most of its troops who simply run away because the battle and the war for them has lost
@@totalwar1793 makes sense, the game does a lot, but there is little it does really well. it seems to be trying to do a lot of things at the same time with the biggest scale it can, but without becoming overly-complicated on any specific thing. so I'm curious to see how the game will look like in a few more years.
With battles of this magnitude, you can see how the bloodstains on the ground cover a lot of ground... leaving an image of a battlefield quite close to what was left after the battles of our world, where many times it is described how shocking it was to see entire red fields, covered by the accumulated blood of thousands of men, and corpses... meters and meters. It's great because it really gets you closer to imagining that situation. How many video games or simulators are there that allow you to view battles involving more than a handful of soldiers... or at most 1,000 soldiers between the two sides combined, as is the case with Mount and Blade?
That was only the case with battles on high ground as the accumilated blood would go down and in effect move around the landscape creating a visual of a river instead of soaking into the ground too early for it to appear red and alive as it were. It would often just look like a dark puddle or in city streets where rock and gravel would prevent it from going into the ground. Also the accumilation of corpses was often what reformed lines so there is still a myth of creating a mountain of corpses, however practically they would move around them unless again situated in streets or houses where the accounts are credible in the portrayal of a mountain of corpses.
Holy crap. I honestly thought it was just a sort of "Auto-Battle" where you can't command the units like UEBS due to the sheer amount of units it has to process and... dammit. So he cant get enough money to keep and army or intercep his trade rutes in a guerrilla warfare type of strategies?. Anyway i know is asking too much but i tough it was a interesing tough.
In pre gunpowder battles, envelopment is only good if you manage to make your opponents formations so tight they can barely use their weapons. Otherwise, you just made your enemy desperate, and with nowhere to run to, they will fight to the death. If you cant make their formations tight, always leave a window for them to rout out of.
Agreed. Envelopment is only essential in an annihilation goal, which is rarely the goal. The classic example being Hannibal, annihilation was the goal because the strategic aim was to discourage Rome’s allies from standing by rome, and discourage rome from wanting to fight. To be fair, it almost worked. The only person who could really match Hannibal in brilliance was Scipio. However, Quintus Fabius, was an exceptional man too, exceptional enough to slow Hannibal down enough that Hannibal couldn’t get the win.
