Well, Dinah Jane just stated in a recent interview that, she and (I'm pretty) sure she hinted that the other girls except Camila were told to baby their voices or they wouldn't get parts. She was told to do it cause her voice was too soulful. I bet all the girls but Camila was told to do that also. That was told to her by producers. Also as for Camila, she had separate management from the rest of 5H which is why she got more promo. As for Camila's management they did their job, it was just a the detriment of the other girls. Camila's voice is perfect for pop the other girls not so much unless it has r&B and reggae tones to it. Also, it was the Producers and Epic who decided on part distribution, not the girls.
People need to stop saying that Normani has weak vocals. If you watch her X-Factor audition and check out some of her covers you will see she doesn't have a weak voice. A lot of the songs weren't really right for her voice, and on top of her probably having to reduce her vocals to get parts, she also had times in which her mic was turned down. If she couldn't cut it she wouldn't have made it past the audition, boot camp process and definitely wouldn't have gotten in the group. Also after they lost remember they all went back home. If she wasn't good enough she wouldn't have gotten the call to join up with the rest of the girls when Simon contacted them to reform 5H. Also, I don't want to hear "Oh she got asked back cause she can dance". That is bull and illogical if she didn't have the voice she wouldn't be in the group. Thousands of people audition and I don't believe Normani was the only singer with a background in dance that auditioned. Normani sound is more R&B, soul and Gospel verses pop. When she got solo parts she would kill those parts. I mean everyone remembers her parts and you can hear people singing them in concert footage. When she didn't have solo parts her voice would be used to double up with any of the girls cause she has the widest range and can harmonize with any of them. #FactAreFacts.
