Yes most of these one would call a draw because Messi can't attack but doesn't lose possession, but Kante completely owns Messi 4 times at 0:36, 0:44, 0:50 and 1:38 whereas Messi has only one (kind of) win at 1:44 (because Messi still loses possession right afterwards) and 0:22 where Messi is forced into a weak position and thus has a weak shot on goal. Other than that, it's mostly Kante forcing Messi backwards or to the side. If even the great Lionel Messi can't really get past Kante, it explains why Kante has won the EPL with 2 different clubs, the Champions League AND the World Cup all within the space of about 5 years after turning pro. But I'd have both of them in my starting XI!

Absolute great defending. A lot of kids think that defending means to always win the ball. If you watched closely you will realize Kante forced Messi most of the time to either change direction or give the ball out to another player.
Messi won the ball but most of the times but kante made sure messi couldn’t cause any danger in most of yhese situations.

Well usually we see messi dribble straight through every one but against kante it was way harder and even if kante didn't tackle him a lot or took the ball he was just closing him up not giving him space to breath...
He understood that he is going against a GOAT and that was a big challenge in he was doing more than well in that challenge huge respect for both legends on their position
At this point, i thought the only way for defenders to stop Messi is by fouling him, but looks like Kante proved me wrong.
