Attended many woman's prayer group activities with friends at this church such an active parish communities. Many wonderful experiences of true community about 10 years ago with members from our Cursillo, wonderful place to pray and experience community.
It is a beautiful church. My husband and I were married here back in 1997.
It was not until this year that I realized the story I was told about the pelican symbolism was not true. At 7:35 they start talking about the pelican on the altar and at 8:00 the priest says, "It is a zoological fact that when the pelican didn't have food it would pierce its breast and feed its chicks on its own blood." The pelican symbolism has been used extensively in Christianity.
It is a legend that was created back in the middle ages when biology was not understood. The pelican does not pierce its chest and feed its chicks blood in time of famine. The pelican scoops fish out of the sea and holds them in a pouch of skin hanging beneath its lower beak. It feeds its young by opening its beak and permitting them to grab bits of the bloody mass of fish collected there.
Myth is powerful in symbolism and this fits well with Catholic theology. It would be helpful to offer a correction. I truly believed this was biological fact as it was told to me!

So beautiful!!! Living in a small rural diocese, we don't have churches like this. Sooooo amazing. I nearly burst into tears right at the beginning to see Father blessing himself with Holy water at the font. We have not had fonts for 2 years. God is so good. Thank you for this!

What a beautiful exposition of the physical properties and the sacramental essence of this magnificent church - I want to go there!
As a cradle Irish-American Catholic, I find the elements of the statuary, symbolism and decoration very familiar, yet extravagantly elegant - French - at the same time. I also appreciate the high quality production values of the series, with appropriate quiet music, clear closeups of the decorative details, and whatever you used - drones? - to get the surround views of the large church space. Bravo!
But, didn't you forget something when describing the campus? Wasn't there a recent situation where a young bear was stuck in a tree? That must have been quite a rescue attempt.
