    I followed Rob for ages. Ran 1000 lt tanks, filters, beds,etc. gave it away recently after couple of years. I work full time and couldn’t manage it all. Had lot problems with siphons and pumps balancing so all siphons worked all time. I want to say when you HAVE GOOD WATER QUALITY ( which isn’t easy without testing) the veges WERE AWESOME! And GREW FAST! Bear in mind this growing method needs TIME . If you have time issues youl run into problems. I’m back to soil growing.it’s slow but easier….thanks rob. Maybe when I’m retired…

      Good to hear you're still growing your own.
      Have you tried growing in wicking beds? They can be a great time & water saver & are how we're going to be setting up the beds here on the farm.
      Cheers & have a top one.

    Question-- why does not all the filtered water go to the grow beds first and than back to the fish tank? Seems like grow beds would clean out water more for fish and get more nutrients to plants.

    • @RobsAquaponics
      @RobsAquaponics  4 месяца назад +1

      That's sone way to do it. 👍The beds can get clogged up over time with solids which can cause issues with plant & fish health. It all really comes down to stocking rate with the fish & the amount of feed given to them.
      BTW, processing the solids waste through a mineraliser can unlock more nutrients that letting them sit in grow beds if done correctly.
      Cheers Thad.

  • @bigunone
    @bigunone Месяц назад

    Something that has bothered me for awhile, my understanding is the idea is to use the fish dropping to fertilize and feed your plants, but you have solids filter before it gets to your plants

    ditch the ACO's for the Resun LP-100's @5:59 not only do they use 1/3 of the power but actually flow at their rated flows the air pumps you have their are with no back pressure also I would not be using plastic check valves I have had them fail during heat waves

      Resun are great pumps ,I have the same air pump as Hamish but probably twice the size running 50 tanks and 20 ponds through 100 metres of pipe and 20 metres of air hose and I still have plenty of pressure...but I am going to check on power usage I might have to change my pump👍🏻

    What do the fish do alday, is there a way of setting up one of these systems where you can provide a good life for the fish instead of just an empty plastic container, cant you set up a enviroment where they can flourish and have a decent life apart from eat poop and then swim 2 foot and back again....
