I had the instinct of calling the guy but he answered late. I stayed home and went to sleep. Very happy abour it this morning. It's all psychological. No physical simptoms.

      It may help or make things worse. If your brain makes more GABA from it then that has a calming effect, but if your brain makes more glutamate from supplementing glutamine then then it causes agitation and restlessness.
      One of my patients appeared to relapse after he added glutamine.

    I bought a bottle of each of the herbs you recommend. Thank you very much for this video.
    I took one pill per day and tried cold turkey after 2 days. Bad idea, they did not kick in yet.
    I waited a week and I felt pretty good the next day. The key is getting a really good night's sleep, which is rare for me.
    The guy at the vitamin store cautioned me about taking too much iron so I take it every other day.
    One strange thing: my urine is now an iridescent shade of yellow, almost like Mountain Dew. You have been warned.
    Those herbs work so well I now have a different problem. I convinced myself I now can quit at any time because there is much less withdrawl discomfort.
    Nonetheless, I was on the right path but last week the relative whose care is enlisted in me had heart attack. It was very stressful and it was not long until I reached out directly to my crutch. I was thinking, its OK, I can just quit tomorrow, no big deal.
    So the physical part is way easier than the mental part.

      Interesting timing that you asked me this, I've avoided Weed since the 1980s when high THC skunk flooded the market. In the last few years however I've been thinking about experimenting with pure CBD but couldn't decide which product to use that have the purity I was looking for. Just this month 1 of my patients as found a 99% pure CBD low-cost product and I'm about to experiment with it.
      It's going to be many many months before I'll be writing anything about it but the therapeutic use and abuse of cannabis products is something I do want to talk about.

    Hi, do you think it's a good idea to use Lithium to help with neuroplasticity? In patients who suffer from chemical dependency in general (like gambling addiction, compulsive sex addiction).

    • @NaturalMentalHealthTreatments
      @NaturalMentalHealthTreatments  4 года назад +2

      Yes, lithium is probably the strongest single remedy I know to boost neuroplasticity.
      Meditation is also a proven way to combat addiction that can produce long term benefits and less relapse.
      What you could is combine at the same time lithium to boost your neuroplasticity the right diet, exercises with an intensive course of meditation brain training to rewire your brain.
      I always include NAC cysteine when treating addiction and other remedies to keep dopamine levels in balance, dopamine is central to driving addiction. I have a page on NAC:

      That type of one size fits all packages are always over priced and not very effective. There isn't a one size fits all, people are different and require individual prescriptions. It would be nice if it was that simple but sadly it isn't.

    Is coke harder to kick than nicotine?

    • @NaturalMentalHealthTreatments
      @NaturalMentalHealthTreatments  2 года назад +1

      Maybe, but individual people are different.
      They can both be hard.
      What’s help is pure nicotine is really good for the brain, it boots neuro plasticity and protect dopaminergic systems in the brain. I take a 1 mg nicotine lozenge every morning.
      So you can switch from toxic tobacco to pure nicotine, if only there was a health coke alternative, I loved coke and I’ve looked, but there’s no substitute.
      Since I’ve repaired my dopamine systems and keep my dopamine levels balanced I no longer need dopamine stimulation and have absolutely no interest in coke.
      If you gave me some I would have no desire to take it and flush it.
      I’d see it as toxic poison that would mess up the good brain health I now enjoy living with.
      I wish you every success with your recovery.

    What is NAC

    • @NaturalMentalHealthTreatments
      @NaturalMentalHealthTreatments  4 года назад +2

      NAC is an amino acid NAC cysteine. It has many therapeutic effects, it is antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antidepressant, antianxiety it has effects at combating addiction, it increases glutathione levels in the brain and liver and more.
      A strange feature of NAC cysteine is that if you take it every day continuously after about 6 months starts to lose effectiveness in the same way that herbs do, I don't know of any other amino acid that has this property. I should take it for 6 months and then stop for several months and repeat. Now I take it 6 days a week and just missing out that one day stop the body from getting used to it.
      It's particularly helpful for bipolar depression.
      I have a web page on it:
      www.balancingbrainchemistry.co.uk/peter-smith/111/NAC-Cysteine-depression,-bipolar,-addiction,-anxiety,-detoxifying.html

      @@RobertLongM the problem I believe they have (My self been through withdrawal) is that they put every aspect down to the benzos. When in fact there is multiple other areas you need to pay attention to for example - gut microbiome and how diverse and healthy it is through dropping and stress levels, optimal sleep and making sure you're setting those areas up in your life, the right supplemtantion is essential as your body is going through such a severe stress state your body will not absorb nutrients properly so supplementing it during your taper is in my opinion important. Aswell as meditation, yoga, movement, sun, diet (can't stress this enough), realtionships, therapy and dealing with the issues and traumas you have to be on them in the first place. There's are 100s of aspects to a withdrawal. Everyone's journey is different of course and that was just mine. But the benzo withdrawal for me was the best thing i ever did in my life. It taught me how to live correctly. To not feed into my ego at every whim to not buy into everyone's journey and realise my own is mine.

      What kind of things are acting like benzos? High levels of calcium, magnesium, full complex of b-vitamins (100) , vitamin c ( 1 g each hour) and very high amounts of niacin amide (to 3 x 2 g per day). (Niacin amide acts on the same receptors as benzos.) What helps also? High amounts of cfm-whey-protein. (High protein - 3 x 30 g additional to daily diet - and high vitamin c is pushing the dopamine system.) // Other suggestions are to find in a book written by Julia Ross: “The Mood Cure”. What everyone helps facing withdrawal: “The Myer`s Cocktail”, which is given i.v.. (There are many modifications round the world.)of this cocktail // James Greenblatt, MD: "Lithium - The Cinderella Story...": People treated with high amounts of Lithium in whithdrawal had no reactions by taking heroin and cocaine…
