The rule at 3:17 must be changed, a rider should be penalized only if it touches the green outside the curb.
If a rider touches the green at the longitudinal end of the curb, it should't be penalized, since it gives no advantage at all, and doesn't put the rider in danger, since at that point the curve is already over, and the rider is already going straight.

Then as long as the rider is straight it will allow him to cut next corner. Lol. Track has limits and you have ro ride within the limit. Its same for everyone. Imagine the green zones are actual grass. Then once the bike is on the grass rider is forced to release his throttle otherwise he can end up on the ground. Green zones are for the safety purpose remember.

Being able to run a wider arc absolutely gives an advantage to corner exit speed.
Rider put 1 wheel in the green: penality in 5 seconds.
Martin cut the circuit: 5 minutes for gave penalty
I love clear the rules are and how promptly the penalties are doled out. F1 can learn a thing or two after the shambolic 23 Austrian GP.

Running outside of the ripple strip is one thing, but riding from on the ripple strip(legal) to the tarmac (legal) should not be penalised. Striking distance or not you have changed race results even though slightly overstepped or not would not have gained or lost a position. I didn't need you to explain the rule to me. I need you to change the way it is enforced.

Just change outside from tarmac to gravel trap. Problem solve for track limit penalty.

Then why did Brad Binder get a 5 second penalty for going off the track with his win in Austria?
He was very far ahead, and lost time because he left the track because he was riding on dry tires on a wet track. His lap was 13 second slower than the second rider.
But he got a 5 second penalty? I understand it was the last lap but still doesn't seem justified.
It didn't affect the results, but I still don't understand the penalty.
In that case it is raining, but he don't wanna come to the pits to change his tyres. Conditions like that required to change tires, but he refuse to do that. That's why the penalty applied.

Joan Mir was penalized aswell... It's just dumb in some cases. Last race or the one before the same... Mir went slightly on the green, clearly didn't gained any advantage but lost 4th position because of that. Just idiotic.

Just look at the difference between f1 and MotoGP, i mean F1 never share these kind of info's in yt or any social platforms and want to inspire the youngester's. Where as look at MotoGP shares every single information about the track. This is why I love MotoGP more then F1 tbh. F1 likes to keep things confidentially.

Surely they can move sensor a bit farther so that its not immediately once u touch the green cuz some riders get penalities for half a tire on the green like that Joan Mir clip. Maybe at the halfway point of the green & checkered would be better?
Also wouldn't it be more simple if the criteria is
1) if you passed someone either give the position back immediately once informed or 3/5 second time penalty
2) if you didn't gain a position then the 3 times warning, 5 times long lap/time penalty
3) if you lost positions then it doesn't count

I’m a new fan to the MotoGP and knew nothing of bike racing before, but this green line rules makes it not so fun. What was MotoGP like before the green boundaries?
basically just dirt/gravel so if the guy cuts, they will fall to the dirt and potentially crash. Sometimes they are penalized with position demotion or its just counted as race incident

I keep thinking there has to be some type of technology they can incorporate to make crashes less horrific. Maybe some kind of airbag system ON THE BIKES? That might prevent them tumbling? IF you could pretty much prevent highside tumbles from occuring I think that could be HUGE in terms of less injuries! Why not have all the race teams pool resources and hire a team of engineers to work specifally on the issue...and it is an issue common accross the board in all high speed moto racing we have IMUs we have all sorts of hightech sensors SOME set up I keep thinking COULD dramatically sense an impending highside tumble and then ACT in ways that might dramatically reduce the tumbles. ...what we want is the bikes to simply slide off the track along with the rider NOT slip skip and violently damn FLIP demolishing the bike in the most dangerous of scenerious! There HAS to be SOMETHING....anyone? What if there were several airbags that inflated in sequence and "popped" when necessary to help prevent bounce? With sensors on the bike with input from gps as to exact location on the track and IMU info even sensors in the riders race gear so the system "knows" the location and trajectories of the riders limbs etc? Yes VERY complicated but isnt that why we have todays computers? To process AMAZING amounts of data at lightening speed? IF this really helped dramatically reduce injuries? Some of it could even wind up on civilian motorbikes and gear! Picture a bike highsiding and the system HAS all the data KNOWS what part of the bike is going to land first and inflates an airbag that instead of bouncing? Actually super fast deflates AS it impacts the tamac which is followed up by other little airbags DAMPING the tumble! controlling the bike actively!! Find a good video of a motogp highside tumble and imagine my little airbag contact points inflating and popping on contact with the ground or even inflating and popping if it hits the rider rather than bludgeoning like a fricken 300llb HAMMER

Get rid of track limit sensors and put grass where the green paint is. I bet riders don’t jump the curb then.
I feel sorry for Brad Binder this track limit rule this year has cost Binder valuable points and a podium finish I think two times .
There is sense in the rule but WHERE it is applied is plain ridiculous. Exiting a corner and having the green cut your trajectory is nonsense. No advantage gained. Then you should ring the entire track in green

This is just a lot of bullshit! to be able to decide on the basis of the rider and the position in the standings (therefore based on the money invested by the sponsors) whether it is known and winning or not. If there was the
gravel or grass how many riders would be left standing after the first lap ?? but thanks to these safety measures that are right they pile up, so they don't fall if they miss the corner, instead they should be eliminated with a black flag for having exceeded the limit of the track! in fact some pilots are sometimes penalized and others never, and do the same infraction!

@@izanagisburden9465 it makes sense for cars go outside the track on the first turn, but honestly for me F1 is still very strict on their penalties sometimes with slight bias but anyway, grid penalties, demote place for track limits, time penalty, etc. On a single F1 race they most likely give the very least 3 penalties, on MotoGP you might only see 1 rider going long lap.

Very stupid rules. This is not race. The only track limits is the white line. Beyond the curb it takes grass to slow down immediately the wrong driver.
It is stupid to see, in every race, the order of arrival change after the end of the race, or pole positions cancelled.
