Until fairly recently, Negreanu had one the most money of any player in history in both Tournament AND Live Play games. But he isn't going to go around saying he's the best ever the way Phil does.
Phil is so delusional. People who suffer from delusion need someone to call them out. I am so glad Daniel had the courage to do this. I suspect going forward that Phil will hit the reset button and will be better for it. If Phil recommitted himself to being a better cash player, you will see a different Phil Hellmuth. The funny thing is, Daniel admits Phil is the best at “promoting himself”. But if Phil never mentioned his WSOP dominance, and didn’t promote himself as “the greatest of all time” then he would probably get tons of mad respect from Daniel and just about everyone else. But he wouldn’t be as rich as he is. Phil’s “personality” is part of his profitability whether you love him or hate him. Yes but heads up poker is played differently than a full cash game. Phil has demonstrated that he can play heads up. It's still more challenging than tournament play, but doesnt require as much skill as playing in a full table. Playing cash tables requires more people reading skills and Phil just doesnt have that skillset.
Phil complains about people "moving the bracelets", and then claims his greatness is confirmed that he has won money in the High Rollers. But if it's about bracelets, the only tournaments Phil wins are still in the WSOP, which at this point is more of a carnival than a poker tournament. And yes, Phil has not kept up with the evolution of the game. He is a terrible hand reader, always seems to believe he has to win a hand just because he's playing it. I'm not really a math guy and am too old to be able to apply complex math as quickly as you have to in the poker context, but I appreciate the deeper analysis (although many times they end up coming to the same conclusion the "old school" guys will). But in generaly, Phil has to learn to keep his mouth shut about how great he is, study harder (including solvers) and above all, stop going on tilt just because he gets beaten by someone who opted to call his way into the pot preflop with a 10,2 off.
Phil’s worst enemy is Himself. His Ego has got the best of him. I personally think that over the last Decade or more he’s gotten worse. Does Phil have some form of Immunity, because he get’s away with it nearly all the time.
Having the most bracelets is great. But how many tournaments did he play against the average poker player to get to that final spot? I asked ChatGPT how many WSOP events Hellmuth has played in his entire career and it said 150 events. I would have thought is was well over 200...but if it's 150 that's just over a 10 percent win rate. So he wins 1 out of 10 tournaments he plays in. That is impressive. BUT he is playing against average players. Like Daniel says...if you played that same amount of high roller tournaments like the Triton Series and won there it would be impressive.
Why does Danielle always have to rip Phil? Why are these videos always directed against Phil? Why does Danielle think Phil Ivey is great? Because he's black? Phil creamed Danielle 3 times in a row in the grudge match after claiming Phil was going to lose. I think THAT is another reason Danielle can't handle himself.
It’s like anything else, if you have to say you’re the greatest, you’re not. Daniel is a great player and almost everyone loves watching him play. Hellmuth is an average player who is very predictable, and people only watch him with the hopes he will lose and blow up. He’s a novelty to the game at best.
Phil always sells himself to everyone, whether they are even slightly interested or not. There's no doubt he is a great player compared with the masses. On the other hand, when he talks about his early days it's like talking about batting averages in the 1920's. His record, when compared with today's poker world, are hugely exaggerated. He won the WSOP when the total field was less than 100 players. He won quite a few in the 90's, before poker took off, so the fields were much smaller and the overall fields were weaker than today's fields. If he started out 10 or 20 years later, I doubt anyone would even know who he is.

He didn't solve peace in the Middle East. He plays cards for a living.
if you have to say it, then clearly no one else is. using Phil Ivey's comment as collateral is hilarious given Ivey's master-bluff skills. Negreanu is better than Hellmuth. Ivey is better than Hellmuth. There are many others better, at the high-roller tournaments. Hellmuth is great against amateurs. Negreanu is willing to put his money on the line, and competes at the high-rollers. The goal posts aren't being moved, the bar is being raised and Hellmuth is not rising to it... Phil is like the high school quarterback that threw the winning pass that won the game back in the day. Yes. It was great at the time, But that was then and this is now. Give it to you then, of course. But now it's gotta be earned. And he's not earning it. Earn it, or take your marbles and go home.
It's true. Phil is no longer relevant. Yes. He WAS a great player & IS a legend. Now he's like a retired athlete that pops up once and a while for T.V. time.
If it’s so easy to beat these “weak” tournaments Phil plays in at the WSOP then why doesn’t Daniel have more bracelets than Phil in the last 5-10 years when Daniel plays a TON of WSOP tourneys as well? No I don’t think Phil is all around the best poker player of today but I do think he’s right that people keep moving the goal posts and Daniel is just a Phil hater and he’s definitely a politician now. His twitter is filled with more dumb political takes now than poker takes that’s for sure.
This was a long time ago. This isn't news. Please find something else to make your videos about, or leave it to the pros. Cash games, high roller tournaments, and WSOP tournaments are all different breeds. And Phil is right. Making a lot of monet doesn't mean you're the best. Bryn Kenney and Bonomo aren't the best and not even close. Phil isn't better than Phil Ivey, yet. He can be, but his ego will get in his own way. And he has a point. The pros don't have the patience to play WSOP fields of large sizes anymore because they'd rather play cash game and protect their ego rather than play in tournament. I love Daniel, and I love Phil, sometimes. 17 bracelets is a HUGE accomplishment, and he is opening his game by playing all the games.
Phils was argubly the best tournament player for two decades. Who else can make that claim? In the sense taht we call Pelé or Maradona the greatest football player of all time... Phils claim isn't unresonable. Pelé would be an average player in todays football. He was great for his time and simply superior to his competition. Just like Phil was. Hellmuth = Narcissist 😮
Phil is like the high school quarterback that threw the winning pass that won the game back in the day. Yes. It was great at the time, But that was then and this is now. Give it to you then, of course. But now it's gotta be earned. And he's not earning it. Earn it, or take your marbles and go home.
was it 4 touch downs in one game though ? lol
Phil is a has been. The only reason he still gets to play is he gets sponsored so people can watch him blow up on TV and laugh.
It's true. Phil is no longer relevant. Yes. He WAS a great player & IS a legend. Now he's like a retired athlete that pops up once and a while for T.V. time.
No longer relevant? Any streamed game with Hellmuth is going to be watched. They've designed entire TV series around Hellmuth being there. Stop.
@joemac999 they still put him on shows & streams for his blow-ups. He can't compete with anyone who has skill anymore. Sideshow Phil 🤡
Nice hairpiece Danny!!!!
Stu Unger & Phil I've are the best ever
Talk about narcissists.
Phil will never be the best in poker players eyes he has no respect for anyone and he needs to grow up
Daniel is the best, and the coolest. Every day. Phil is a bit of a douche and brought that on himself by bragging so hard.
Love Daniel. Hate Phil.
Still can't figure out why he thinks he's so great! I really don't think he's that good.
Phil is the LeFlop of poker.... Nowhere near being the GOAT... Just like LeFlop...
I remember that event
Greatest resume, sure! Best player, nah.
He's not the best player but argubly the greatest (tournament player). Just as Kasparov was better then Fisher and Carlsen is better then Kasparov ever was.
Elon musk would take all of the so called great poker players money, before anyone of them could take all of his money...😮😊...His bankroll Supercedes anyones bankroll by at least a million to one....Tournament players have equal equity 😂😅😊
He is the biggest cry baby throws tantrums like a little kid he is a embarrassment to poker talks down to people all the time like they are nothing .worst sport in all of sports.
lol what a non video was expecting a poker game but know just talking 😡😡😡
Stop bragging
He still far from the best. I think helmuth sucks.
Phils hellmuths cry baby
Didn't phil beat daniel 3 times in a row heads up
Yeah, no one would say anything if he wasn't claiming to be GOAT of poker. The conversation is not about is Phil is a one of the top players in poker there are arguing if Phil is the Greatest Poker player to ever play the game. Which are 2 very different conversations.
@scotthenderson3519 ofc. And I get it, he has barely played in the big buy in wpts right?
@@Adam-hi9dh I think what people are saying is Michael Jordan and Wayne Gretzky wouldn't be playing in the Minor leagues so they can brag about how many times they beat them.
@@scotthenderson3519 I hear you. It's classless and pathetic behavior by Phil to go around saying he's in the convo for best ever
And Daniel Negreanu beat Phil Ivey heads up. That doesn't make him greater than Ivey.
Phil Doesn't have the patience to play with the best. And he chokes when it comes down to it. Daniel is one of the best player. And he has a real knack for PLO
Phil and Daniel are best friends, and this was all for show.
Hellmuth isn't even the best player named Phil.
Phill is a has been
Poker is all luck
😅😅😅
First🎉
Phil hellmuth is the greatest tournament poker player ever. Period. Most wsop bracelets = THE GREATEST
Daniel is better than Phil in my opinion. Phil gets his ass kicked all the time on this show
