You can see how in someone's head, the line seemed to be really good. But it's impossible to actually execute it and yield the proper amount of emotion; especially when the emotion was clearly lost somewhere in the writing phase of the script.

There was a Japanese soldier that lived on an island in the Philippines (I think) for 43 years under the impression that WW2 was still going on. Hate to break it to you but Afghanistan was never a "most dangerous places". It made the list once but quickly fell off. The irony is that war zones tend to be a relatively safe because the danger is not constant.
