Still my favorite Pokemon games. It's a shame that they aren't readily available on modern plattforms (as most of the games).
Same hopefully one day we receive an had Pokémon collection of some sort

Some of my favorite games in the series alongside Platinum, XY, and ORAS. Even though I do still have gripes with them like not fixing every problem that the OG games had and keeping some of the problems DPPt had, I still love HGSS a lot.
They look amazing for late DS games. HGSS has what I consider the best-looking 2D sprites in the series for both the characters and the Pokemon. And all of the colors used for these games look beautiful and make Johto and Kanto look the best they ever looked.
Most of the music has been gracefully remade. The Kanto Gym Leader theme, Route 38/39, Goldenrod City, and many other music sound amazing and are some of my favorite music in the franchise. And new tracks like Route 47/48 and Ecruteak City's new music are wonderful additions to the OST.
I can't forget to mention all the new additions that helped out. Seriously, improved following Pokemon, the Pokeathlon, the improved PokeGear, automatic Running Shoes, the new events, and the Pokewalker make HGSS feel smooth as butter to play. That's not even mentioning how cool it is to be able to use some cross-generation Pokemon during the main game. HGSS really feel like they're Gen 4 games.
Finally, the new additions to the story like Silver's extra characterization and Giovanni's return and falling out with Silver made the story more interesting than the OG games. I also appreciate the optional extra characterization given to the Gym Leaders and their optional side events.
I know I typed out a LOT, but there's a lot to love about HGSS. ORAS are my favorite main games and remakes, but HGSS are still easily top five material. Like you said, they are the definitive remake experience because of how they both improve from the OG games while also keeping its spirit in-tact. They're really fun, and I still love going back to them. Great video! 👍💝

I would argue that HGSS are not only the perfect remakes but also the perfect and definitive Pokémon games. The games probably have some of the best features out of all the Pokémon games like the Battle Frontier, Gym Leader Rematches, following Pokémon, two regions to explore. These features alone make them the best Pokémon games of all time
HGSS is a masterpiece at best, good design, good story, and overall unique features that were not in the original GS games. My favorite feature about HGSS that is unique to its game is the Pokemon coming outside the Poke Ball. Having a Pokemon as a pet is always been my dream and since GS implemented the friendship mechanic, It felt like I am alive. I know that this feature is the same as BDSP, but BDSP is not realistic. If you let Dialga who is the Pokemon God of Time, A LITERAL COLOSSAL, go outside, it would be the same size of you. F you BDSP.
Comparing hgss to bdsp is a stretch tbh. Hgss is GOAT, whereas bdsp is worse than its prequels
I mostly agree. My biggest gripe is how much they changed the music tempo. It got way slowed down, and I prefer the more modest pace of the originals.
I agree. To this day, these are still my favourite Pokemon games. They brought back almost everything that Kanto lacked in the original games, due to technical limitations. I only remember a few minor issues I had with the game. You already mentioned Mt. Moon, I personally also miss route 23, which is completely absent from the game, the Silph Co. HQ, the Pokemon Tower and especially Cinnabar Island.
While I like the Gym leader rematches, its a bit sad that the early Johto Gym leaders are much weaker than their Kanto counterparts, who are almost equal in strength. I also miss rebattling trainers on the MS Aqua.
Apart from that I cannot remember anything else I did not like about the games and counting everything I did like would most likely overexceed the limit of space her.

Overall i love the g2 remakes but one big problem that I don't think was adequately addressed from the original was the level curve
We need Morimoto back in the director seat of the company, he was responsible for platinum and a bunch of other 3rd version titles
They really were the best remakes, more like a reimagining. They're better in everyway to the originals. They even made good use of the touch screen to be a convenience feature and a genuinely good extension to the games UI, 1 tap save or access your pokemon/ items or map, it confused me when Black and White just went in caved in head mode when designing their UI, they already had it basically perfect, why make it worse and less functional in future games, why waste an ENTIRE SCREEN on an internet feature, most players won't even be able to use. (this was the DS we're talking about, wifi wasn't was in every one's home or business like it is today)
Something they still struggle with today is UI... any time they make an improvement, it's not going to appear again in the next game, there is no one designing the UI, it just happens. I'm only being half sarcastic there because it sure feels like there is no human intelligence behind the design choices sometimes.
Your right actually heartgold and soul silver were a reimagining and it felt like these two games were built from the ground up with the ds in mind.
It's imo the one of the best remakes yes, but it lacks the wild Pokémon additions crystal had, doesn't have the gen 4 Eeveelutions and area-based evolutions of gen 4 when it is possible, and some Pokémon just need to evolve before the league or else they're mediocre (Togetic, Sneasel or Misdreavus/Murkrow). Those kinds of improvements were there in ORAS, but they still lacked Emerald content outside of Delta Episode. The rest is all good to me though!

I used to have an original Pokémon soul silver along with a pokewalker
Personally the only thing i felt let down was Voltorb Flip replacing the slot machines...
But to be begrudgingly fair, Game Freak was given little choice ever since parents in Europe complained as GF started removing slot machines for the European release of Platinum as it later snowballed to the US and the rest of the world in future games... But at least the jamming Game Corner theme song remained

I actually owend soulsilver a couple of years ago there really cool and not to mention theres the battle frontier too i sold my pkmn soul silver cuz i couldnt do none of the events, i bougth them like two years after they released so i missed the events but nowadays they say that theres a way to get old event pkmn conecting the nds to the internet using these games so i some how in a a way regret to lose my soulsilver now that i have internet in the house

What sucked is that even in the Japanese version, despite having the Crystal elements like the Minaki story with Suicune, Kris and the roulette card flip were scrapped.
The Japan-based region Pokémon games deserve 2D anime graphical remakes with the new and good features, more usable Pokémon with Pokédex entries, bug fixes, and translation fixes.
To be honest, Pokemon HeartGold is the best Pokemon I've played and the Remake doesn't disappoint :), So Nostalgic If I remember I used to play this game
The only game except B&W that I have completed. I just loved pokeathelon so much that I remember spending an entire month there.

Do you think they’ll start doing remakes of remakes because I would absolutely love to play this with better graphics!!! I just hope if they do it doesn’t turn into a BDSP copy but honestly I don’t see the passion I saw with HGSS now and days just feels like they’re forcing these remakes for a quick cash grab :/

This remake is great but failed to fix the 2 biggest issues. Poor late game difficulty curve and some new mons being unavailable until Kanto

Kinda sad that those Games are expensive these days, Nintendo should have added a version of it to the 3DS eshop. I mean they wouldve made so much money with it i don’t understand why they didnt.
I agree 100% I hate how expensive these games became. Nintendo should defiantly make these games available via the switch and 3ds eshop so many pokemon fans can enjoy these classic remakes.

I think these remakes are heavily carried by the originals and mechanics introduced in DPP. Compared to FRLG it's pretty lackluster as a remake.
Nope. HGSS are not the perfect games. They are gen 4 games which tend to be slow. Not to mention inheriting flaws from the original games. Definitely not the best games of the series in my opinion. And definitely not the best remakes. HGSS are good games but I wouldn't consider them incredible.

I never got into HGSS after the first gym I always got bored and couldn’t muster up the attention to play further. Boring remakes and boring generation tbh

I think you should give them another shot. I was also not a fan of Johto when I was younger, just because I never played them at the time, but after playing through Gold, Crystal and HGSS, I've grown to appreciate these games, especially Crystal and HGSS.
