One of these was my first car, at 16 in 1975. I got a rebuilt block from Sears, re-did the head myself, got it to running condition but didn't have the resources then to restore it. It followed me halfway across the country (parents shipped it to get it out of their driveway!) but by then I had money but didn't have the time to devote to it. So, eventually, 16 years later I sold it to a guy who promised to keep the engine, since it was essentially new, though I suspect he put a SBC in the body. Still love to see these at shows. There are a surprising number still around, probably because GM sold over 211,000 in 1948. Rare to see one that isn't rodded or given the full Lowrider treatment.

Awesome. I am in India and we don't have any of these here. I just got a 1:24 motormax miniature. Lucky you

That's the way you do it just keep it running and leave it original! Like he said he gets thumbs up every where he drives it. My coupe is the same way and nothing as far as the body work has been done to it and I get thumbs up.
