I remember doing this challenge for about 2 or 3 years every time I painted hehe! I was using a cheap less-than-$5 36 pan set for all the paintings I did yet people still really liked them. Goes to show that materials can only do so much!

To be honest, this chalky, matte finish doesn't look bad at all, it's nice and could be useful sometimes. Also, as always, you did an amazing job with the light & shadows ❤️
The Canson XL Mixed Media sketchbook is one of my favorites for quick watercolor sketches that don't use too much water. They're no more than usually $5 where I am in the U.S. And despite how chalky those paints are they look pretty pigmented in the video. Pretty surprising for cheap paint.

There's already a medium for that, gouache. People don't want their watercolors to have chalky matte finishes if they did they would use gouache
