You being so excited over the perfect eggshell was precious lol, but also for the chocolate Kirby molds in the future I'd suggest chocolate pens! Basically they're tubes of chocolate you warm up that have nozzles so filling molds can be precise and easy. (Plus they have pink ones that are that exact shade of Kirby, the downside is that you usually have to search for them online and I've never seen them in US stores 😒).
I was thinking along the lines of using almond bark type chocolate it comes in white as well so it be easy to just drop a drop of red food color to get the pink colored chocolate. what came to mind is those egg molds would make some kick ass peanut butter eggs.
Ah, a couple of tips! Most cooks nowadays just recommend melting chocolate in the microwave, much less likely to mess it up. The instructions for how to make the eggs says you should have rubbed some oil in it with a paper towel or something beforehand to make it easier to remove, also it says there should be a fill line indicating how much chocolate to put in :P
For anyone curious where you could get those horoscope keychains and similar items, you buy them at grocery stores. They sell them next to the candy aisle, which is why a lot of these kind of items come with a tiny candy/piece of gum, so they can technically be considered a "food stuffs".
I know how you feel. I searched for ages for Elfilin merch after Forgotten Land came out. Only thing I could find that looked official, or of decent quality, was one plush. And there's _nothing_ for Fecto Elfilis, despite him being just so freaking cool looking. I swear, if Nintendo is hiding the Elfilin/Elfilis merch from me, they will pay. As in, they will lose money because they're not getting as much as they could if they'd just _let me buy their things without _*_going through 37 different websites!_* Also, yes: Kirby has amazing aesthetic. They get that delightful dream dimension feel perfectly.
I'm laughing so much at the chocolate mold attempts. My mom used to make chocolate and there are actual baking/melting chocolates that you typically use.
Jelly belly used to give out free mini booklets that told you how to make flavor combos like the Kirby gum. I remember they said blueberry and buttered popcorn together tastes like a blueberry muffin
OMG YESSSS I used to live like 30 minutes away from the old jelly belly factory in Wisconsin and they handed those out all the time back when they where still open
As a long time Kirby fan, I enjoyed the video a lot. I agree that we need more cool stuff from Nintendo for the American market. Now, I do have some tips for chocolate making for any future videos. Disclaimer I'm not a chef, but I have done a few homemade chocolate candies before. You should get a candy thermometer. (Believe it or not it helps.) You should look up how to stabilize your chocolate. (To help keep it from melting as fast.) And, how to temper your chocolate. (For a better presentation, texture, crispness, etc.) For different colored chocolate creations, I would recommend buying white chocolate and using food grade coloring to dye the white chocolate to the desired color. I hope these tips help you. I, and my two pet birds, look forward to your next video.
I'm sure someone has already explained it, but chocolate can be a tricky ingredient to work with! Since the ruby chocolate had a filling inside, it wasn't a normal chocolate to melt down. And adding cold milk seizes the chocolate and breaks (which is the oiliness you noticed), so it's not really easy to work with at that point. And if chocolate isn't tempered properly, it can melt easier too. But you did pretty good!
I just learned I'm going through existential crisis, im seventeen lol, it's somehow comforting, but anyway I'm very glad I have the peebs channel to add that little splatter of nonsense and childishness to the mix. You're very awesome at being you peebs and i love your content is what I'm trying to say. I love that coincidently you usually post after my school gets out which is perfect. You are one of the only consistent and positive teenaghood role models and it has helped me become more expressive in my enjoyment of video games and has prevented my enjoyment of video games from being stifled by my school and environments images of society. You're like that best friend who is all over the place and talks for the both of you and is the perfect company. Thank you
25:55 You forgot to do step 1, it says to spread a layer of vegetable oil in the mold. Step 2 tells you how much chocolate you are supposed to put in, fill it up to that line. And according to the rest of the steps you aren't supposed to take it out of the mold until after you put the contents in and seal it up with more melted chocolate and 30 minutes in the fridge.
Having utterly failed at tempering chocolate, the last bit was just too much! I am in tears! Thank you for sharing your failures with us. Tip for the future: unless you want a ganache, you’ll want to add vegetable shortening or even wax to try and salvage over-tempered chocolate. But seriously, those molds are adorable, I hope you give them another try sometime.
24:52 You probably should have used the melt-able candy making chocolate like Candy Melts not ruby chocolate, but I only really see that in stores around at Valentines Day so I don't blame you EDIT: I think next time you should check a craft store like Micheal's for the Meltables
This put me into the mood to continue playing more Kirby games because he's so great. I really do wish Nintendo could give us more Kirby stuff like this the way they do with Mario. He's always been my favourite franchise since I was a kid, before Pokemon came along, so I always jump at the chance to see more of him
Jelly belly jellybeans also do the flavor combination thing where eating different ones will give you new results, they used to put them on the back of the bag, maybe they still do. I’m sure they still have them on their website at least
If you ever try another chocolate making kit like that, try looking in your grocery store's baking section for candy melts. They're little chocolate discs that are made for melting and come in a ton of colors, you can probably find pink easily. :)
I wonder if you'd be interested in covering some fandom-related cookbooks. There's, practically, a cookbook for everything. Sonic, Pokemon, Godzilla, Street Fighter, Harry Potter, Bluey, Moomin, SEINFELD, you name it.
As a professional chocolatier, yes, but as someone who has watched episodes of Bon Appétit where the chef there REFUSES to learn how to tempter chocolate while making gourmet candy, this seems so very small in comparison.
To be fair the average person probably doesn't know what tempering chocolate even means without research. They don't teach it in schools, not even home economics (at least where I'm from anyway). But there's easy cheat ways Peebs could use to temper the chocolate if he wants to do something like this again. :D
@@gurvmlkIt's like conditioning the chocolate. You agitate it as it cools and it can hold its shape at room temperature (obviously there's a bit more to it but that's the gist of it). When the ruby chocolate started getting lumpy.. that's what burnt chocolate looks like 😅 it's irredeemable at that point. I usually melt chocolate until it's almost liquid and still has a couple lumps, then take it off heat and just stir until the heat from the already liquid chocolate melts what's left. Haven't burnt chocolate in YEARS with that method. And I use a microwave in short bursts like a pleb lol.
The "lumpy and not great" part, looked like the chocolate had 'seized'. Happens when you overheat, or over-agitate chocolate. When that happens to me occasionally, I can get away with just adding a touch of butter, and it fixes it right back up. Cream wasn't a bad idea, but I think it's something with the oils or something. And I don't mean the oily puddle you got, something else. I'm not as sure about this one as I am about other kitchen mess-ups. PS: Semi-sweet chocolate is better for melting and molding than milk chocolate. Re-formed milk chocolate is pretty delicate, and melts back down very easily.
The chocolate broke (which is what it's called when chocolate stops being crystallized) because the filling had water in it. Melting chocolate is a risky business because of chemistry. Next time, do 15 sec bursts in a microwave, mixing it until it melts, or you have to do a double boiler, meaning you put a glass or metal bowl on top of pot of steaming water to make it smoothly melt.
