A nerf could also mean animation (aka delay) for weapon swap. With that you would've to wait till you can blink, and if this is long it would be quite useless imo. In my opinion it would make sense when they add that because "instant" weapon swap is quite unrealistic.

Ive found that if you have a free bind on your action bar then having a shield in your 2nd weapon set and binding raise shield allows you to swap to your 2nd weapon set while also giving you a brief moment of invulnerability when you're in a tough situation before you blink.
If you have a second free link, put a leap slam in that weapon slot in addition to blink. Plays kinda like flame dash-smoke mine animation canceling shenanigans. Doesn't even add a button since you don't have to manually weapon slot because it auto-switches for leap slam.
You can make it very smooth with no macro by having a shield charge that's set to weapon set 2 only - you can then press shield charge from your bar, auto swapping to the set with blink. Blink then lets you cancel out of the "stumble" animation at the end of the charge. It feels like old smoke mine + frostblink did. You can then use the weapon set 1 skill to swap back. Using your weapon set passive points any build can just assign 24 stat nodes to make getting the int to use blink + a sceptre trivial. This is obviously worse for dodging boss abilities than being able to just blink but you can manually weapon swap to do that.
I honestly accepted the slower gameplay, the backracking wasn't even bothering me that much. And i would go frost blades, deadeye, shield charge rf. I do like the zoom zoom.

I used Shield charge the same way but blink would be better forgot thats a thing tbh i remember Johnathon going over it as a item with it instead of dodge
this is cumbersome and horrible to use, u could get spirit on gear and maybe use together with cast on freeze or other shit u use. Im using grim feast and cast on freeze because I have a chestpiece with +40 spirit
I don’t have blink yet but was wondering if weapon swap can be used to circumvent the spirit requirment. Weaponsawp to a minion sceptre, blink, switch back. I mostly just miss the movement skills when going up/down ledges. I quite like the dodgeroll otherwise
Yea ngl GGG is probably seething right now because they worked so hard to smoothen the weapon swap experience and now you bring it back to old school :') But hey we'll see if it's allowed in. Definitely a lifesaver for some builds and as you said it does come with the payoff of not having an swap so it's not like it causes major balance issues. So we'll see if they're like well you picked your path, no we're gonna nuke it, or maybe lets make it so it can read the spirit on the weapon the skill is going to get used on so you can autoswap it like the rest, which would of course be the less likely but ideal scenario.
That wouldn't work on a lot of build that are either using summons or stacking a ressource through their spirit. Cast on X for instance you return to 0 if you deactivate the cast so you'd lose a decent amount of efficiency on some builds. Plus it's extremely tedious to weapon swap "just" for that. I feel using leap/flicker strike/lightning warp instead depending on your stats would be smoother and could have added benefits depending on support gems you put in it too.
Soon as I sawe the title, I immediately knew what the tech was gonna be… and I’m questioning myself as to why I never thought to use it… seeing as it was obvious
They should have a mobitlity skill gem type and you can only have one per build and it's somehow limited or whatever but having blink as spirit reservation is really silly to me, especially at 60 cost.
damn i can easily use this on my build as gemling legionaire with the ascendancy node that allows me to use highest base stat for gem requirements.. got 7 int lol best thing is i can put gems on it for quicker cooldown easy too due to dupe support gem from gemling as well.
Then just start new, do not slog on playing sthn u do not enjoy:p I had the same thing when I started monk, died 40 times in act 1, wasn't feeling it and started merc, had a blast with that so far. Saw a build for monk yesterday and tried that, much better than before too 😂
This just made me throw up in mouth a little bit… I really really really really really miss movement skills.. I’ve been going back to Poe 1 to keep up with the gold to keep my town running and it’s so refreshing to zoom, and blink and move fast
I'll be honest I'm kinda disappointed and not having very much fun in poe 2. The campaign is such a slog for me, and I can't imagine doing it every 3 months. I also dislike how restrictive building feels. For instance, wanting to play with cold spells kinda just means using cast on freeze comet and spamming frost wall on bosses. Before getting access to those I found the freeze into coldsnap combo on bosses to be unfun and janky.
3:48 you should preface that what you're suggesting (setting up a macro) is a bannable offence. If i recall correctly, you can only set up macros that result in one server action being sent (e.g. automatically typing and sending "/hideout" in chat is okay, cause that's just one server action). Weapon swapping and then using the dodge roll is two actions so this could absolutely get you banned
I don't think so. He's not using any third party software, he's just remapping the in-game buttons. If GGG will indeed consider this a macro it's on they UI team to fix the remaking functionality. Think about how in Poe1 you can't remap all flasks to be on the same button. Everything he's doing is within the confines of the game. If this counts as a macro it's on ggg to fix the problem with their remaking and not on him.
Im referring specifically to the "wink wink nudge nudge" moment in the timestamp. What he said before about remapping the weapon swap button is completely okay, but after that when he says there might be another way to make it easier to do the blink tech ("grow a sixth finger") i am 90% sure that he's referring to setting up a macro so that pressing the space bar would result in pressing the weapon swap button and then the dodge roll button. It's not said out loud but it is strongly implied.
could make some other utility skill use the same weapon set as blink to minimize the keyboard gymnastics. instead of hitting a dedicated swap key, drop a frost wall or something to switch. no idea about endgame stuff though. dropping an entire skill to do the swap like that might be a bit rough.
so, the tech is that you weapon swap and have your other auras turned off during it which frees up the spirit. when you swap back it turns on your other reservations.
Oh yeah this is 100% getting a nerf lol. Not just free auras, but as many as you want cause i assume you can weapon swap a scepter for a ton of spirit?
The weapons swap he uses, gives him 100 spirit, you can use your 20 weapon set 2 skill points for +100 int... So every character how has one free skill slot and atleast 33 int can get it easily... Listen to what he says in the video ._.
What, the game doesn't automatically switch weapons when you use the assigned abilities? Sorry Subtractem, but that's a scam! I'm not going to manually switch weapons to use Blink, then you might as well just run! Are you kidding me? That's stupid!
It highly depends. Their vision very often proved counter-productive when it comes to keeping players in. Poe1 is a result of what players wanted. So as long as ggg finds a middle ground, it should be fine.

What do you mean free? That wouldn't work on a lot of build that are either using summons or stacking a ressource through their spirit. Cast on X for instance you return to 0 if you deactivate the cast so you'd lose a decent amount of efficiency on some builds. Plus it's extremely tedious to weapon swap "just" for that. I feel using leap/flicker strike/lightning warp instead depending on your stats would be smoother and could have added benefits depending on support gems you put in it too.
Soon as I sawe the title, I immediately knew what the tech was gonna be… and I’m questioning myself as to why I never thought to use it… seeing as it was obvious
i hope they dont nerf this and then mess up other weapon swap spirit setups
I guess this wont work very well with minions build
They shouldn’t nerd anything for awhile while we play the game for ourselves and figure things out
Dodge all the way... Makes the game so good. Keep you blink
This will feel mandatory so I doubt it will stay in this form.
Half the comments saying this is useless, half saying it will get nerfed 😂
3:50 I see you 😆
This is sick :)
Frost mage seems absurdly broken, i play tempest sorcerer with bow. Works pretty good, lvl52now and starting to realy pop off with the cast on shock.
They should have a mobitlity skill gem type and you can only have one per build and it's somehow limited or whatever but having blink as spirit reservation is really silly to me, especially at 60 cost.
Man if only i had a free ability slot to do this
Can I use this on a merc ? 😮😮😮
If you meet the stat requirement yes, any class
10000% this will get nerfed
damn i can easily use this on my build as gemling legionaire with the ascendancy node that allows me to use highest base stat for gem requirements.. got 7 int lol best thing is i can put gems on it for quicker cooldown easy too due to dupe support gem from gemling as well.
“Finger magic” 😂
I suppose this sux on controller as every teleport in every game as u cant pick a target to teleport to and distance? Can anyone confirm?
It replaces dodge roll, why would it suck under those conditions?
@ if it always uses same length and is not based on target then it should be fine
THX for the tip ! Mouse keybind macro incoming XD
most used terms in 5 minutes: PoE 1
doesnt work for minion build
Whatever you do, don't map this to a keyboard that does macros.....😬
I would be having more fun in PoE 2 if I had chosen a more interesting build archetype. Minions just do not do it for me. Should have gone Monk.
Then just start new, do not slog on playing sthn u do not enjoy:p
I had the same thing when I started monk, died 40 times in act 1, wasn't feeling it and started merc, had a blast with that so far.
Saw a build for monk yesterday and tried that, much better than before too 😂
Yeah switch! You might find an item or ideas to return to your other char
This just made me throw up in mouth a little bit… I really really really really really miss movement skills.. I’ve been going back to Poe 1 to keep up with the gold to keep my town running and it’s so refreshing to zoom, and blink and move fast
The town!
X hard to press? Dont you have a thumb? D:
My thumb too busy pressing space bar 🤣
@ x is right above it
You can press both
He is a lefts and has all his hotkeys on the rightside of the keyboard, so going from i o p j k l, to x is pretty far
Thumb too fat 😅
@@dekina1198 that opens dozens of other keys
Good video
to bad i already abuse the shapeshifting trick with spirit for some other stuff :/
6th finger = macro. tsk tsk tsk
why the title say for free?
It's free if your build only uses one weapon set.
Looove it
I dont understand how to get this skill. I dont see it on gem list.
Blink is a spirit skill so it will be from spirit gems, not skill gem
Or u can just play demon form.... oh... wait... bruh... what form again?
Cool!
60 SPIRIT LOL no way is that worth
Watch the video? You're missing the whole point
I love how even you haven't gotten a 2 charm belt yet. I do miss the 5 flask system.
Nerf Nerf Nerf
are u suggesting....MACRO?
Oh boy, this will go as fast as it arrived
posting the video and saying please no nerf is wild better off just not posting it
Who da f uses pgup and pgdn for flasks? Bro you okai? 😂
Left handed.
Foot pedal is what I meant, of course
whats to nerf? its intended.. its a lvl 58 skill so pretty high up, why would they change the mechanics...?
could make some other utility skill use the same weapon set as blink to minimize the keyboard gymnastics. instead of hitting a dedicated swap key, drop a frost wall or something to switch. no idea about endgame stuff though. dropping an entire skill to do the swap like that might be a bit rough.
60 spirit an swap this is worthless its called ggg needs to give us a mobility skill with no cost
It doesn't take any spirit...that's the point
@@subtractem it says 60 spirit ?
did you watch the video?
@ yes I’m still confused
so, the tech is that you weapon swap and have your other auras turned off during it which frees up the spirit. when you swap back it turns on your other reservations.
Noice
Oh yeah this is 100% getting a nerf lol. Not just free auras, but as many as you want cause i assume you can weapon swap a scepter for a ton of spirit?
if you swap back you lose the spirit
60 spirit is alot 😬
You don't need the spirit...that's the point of the video
GGG give me my shield charge!!
Please, pretty please.
but getting blocked in by mobs was a problem. they gave us solutions we just refused to use them
"How to blink on any character in game" my ass! ..lvl 14 gem with 133 int requirements, dont bait pls.
Weapon set skill points.
I think they'll find a way to nerf it, so won't even bother with it
classic bait poe2 video: "for free" -> still costs 60 spirit and is locked behind at least 133 int requirement and advocates macro'ing LOL
The weapons swap he uses, gives him 100 spirit, you can use your 20 weapon set 2 skill points for +100 int...
So every character how has one free skill slot and atleast 33 int can get it easily... Listen to what he says in the video ._.
@@dekina1198i dont have a open skill slot without nerfing myself or an uncut ring 😢
Classic PoE player can't read " "Free" ". Lol or understand what that means
Having to weapon swap every single time you want to blink ruins the entire thing. Hard NTY.
What, the game doesn't automatically switch weapons when you use the assigned abilities?
Sorry Subtractem, but that's a scam!
I'm not going to manually switch weapons to use Blink, then you might as well just run! Are you kidding me? That's stupid!
Is this the new diablo-like game that I'm keep hearing about?
omg how original
It wont work for you Rod. POE2 kicked d4 out of the park and its on early access. lol shame on Activision
hope they remove all the mobility options , if they exist we want to just spam them. Lets not go for 30s - 60s maps so fast in the game.
Advocating for macros?
Foot pedal of course!
@@subtractem As long as it's not a chopstick..
God I hope GGG ignores anyone who wants poe 2 to be more like poe 1. Would much rather have 2 different equally excellent games.
It highly depends. Their vision very often proved counter-productive when it comes to keeping players in. Poe1 is a result of what players wanted. So as long as ggg finds a middle ground, it should be fine.
@@Kuzka_ There are also a ton of players who gave up on poe 1, listening to influencers has killed quite a few games
@@Matt-sk6hi Those who give up are usually the build copiers, because the only viable thing they see is mageblood +meta, and that will be in poe2 sooner or later too, once the game is "solved".
Some people were talked out of trying poe1 and now even more will
@@Kuzka_ No it wasn't the overly complex poorly explained systems that you needed to spend dozens of hours learning? You're sure about that?
You realize the buy-in for poe 1 is "Watch this 15 hour youtube course about the game and then maybe you can start enjoying it"
@@Matt-sk6hinah, the buy in is: skip every mechanic and don't worry about it till you're past the acts. Btw these systems are still in poe2, just as unexplained, but less of them this time.
What do you mean free? You have to waste your second weapon set which screws up a lot of builds, and it requires more input and effort from the user to both set up and consistent use, this inconvenience to get a blink isnt unrealistic and i doubt it requires a nerf since you lose a lot of power in most POE 2 builds since we will use second weapon slot for power and utility.
It's in quotation marks for a reason ya dingus
I have no use for my weaponswap and I will just write a short macro that presses swap+spacebar+swap with one button lol
weapon swapping is hardly used, at the current state of the game weapon swapping is unnecessary to push into pinnacle content, only really niche shit like this is what it should be used for.
@@ZwrP That's what GGG is pushing towards, try to go against their design at your own risk buddy. Every 1 click build will get obliterated the moment they pop up.
@@SleepyGaming-ie9fb sounds like a skills issue they already nerfed gas grenades and im still one shoting bosses with explosions kekw
Please, nerf
Let's NERF
yeah this will get nerfed. i would even go so far as to say removed entirely. to hit that dead horse one more time. this is NOT poe 1 but looks like they were kind enought to give you blink and this is your response. this is why we cant have nice things as they say. But on the bright side you doing this and showing it off allows the devs to notice and fix it. thx for your hard work.
Hogrider
abusable mechanics are meant to be abused
What will they fix lol, remove weapon swapping? Or remove their own QoL they implemented with it remembering 2 diff setups.
@@HannieDzn removal of blink. or just a worse version if it.
Go back to ruthless ssf hc.
There's no reason to be this negative about a movement skill.
If you didn’t want this nerfed you wouldn’t make a video lol
I just care more about sharing this tech and people having fun with the game than GGG potentially nerfing it (and I don't think it's super vulnerable to it since it's a little clunky).
They will know about this whether or not he posts the video......they literally made the gem cmon
I aint giving up 60 spirit for that :D
the whole point is you don't have to!
@@subtractem ok, I admit I hadn't watched the whole video :D
