    'Kit' is a perfect and timely distillation for the brand. Folks will always struggle with the initial pivot from familiar to new - but this is a well articulated, necessary evolution. Kit is great because it's bite-sized and ripe for new associations to be attached to it. Really looking forward to witnessing the rebrand!

    Anyone else remember when Netflix tried to rebrand as Qwikster!? I use (and love) ConvertKit - I'm not sold on Kit yet. Generic? KitKat? In England "kit" just literally means "gear" or "equipment". Creator/Growth/Launch/Broadcast...Kit?

      For a while, we’ve felt that our current name no longer reflects the scale of our mission and vision.
      ConvertKit sounds too technical and niche, and it doesn’t fully capture everything that creators do with our platform.
      We wanted a name for our company that was:
      → Tied to our mission
      → One word
      → Easy to hear and spell over the phone
      → Not too technical
      Kit checks all those boxes, and gives us a great starting point for building a new brand identity while staying connected to our 11+ years of experience serving creators as ConvertKit.
      Hope that provides a little more context on why we decided to go with Kit!

    Convertkit is instantly recognizable. Kit doesn’t tell me what it is. Had to agree with the other comment about how inauthentic the message was so much so that I didn’t finish listening. Could be another Infusion Soft mistake. Keep? 🧐

      Nah, they misspelled the name. It took years to build name recognition for ConvrtKit. We'll do it much faster for Kit. Just give it time.

    Thanks so much for doing this rebrand in public! I don't hate 'Kit' as a name, but what about CreatorKit? Then it's obvious who it's for, and the 'kit' implies it has way more than just one or two things to offer. I'd be curious to know why you guys have such a pull towards having a single word name.

      @@Convertkit Thanks for the reply, but it didn't really address my question. I find it interesting that you guys are so set on having the name be one word. I don't understand why that's such a massive factor. The other three things I understand. I guess it's personal preference? I can see the point if you're rebranding so you can offer a bunch of sub-"things" like "email kit" or "blog kit" or "ebook kit" or whatever.
      Well. I'm excited to see more behind the scenes!

    As a Convertkit customer since 2016, I think it's a big mistake.
    You have a great product, with a recognizable name, why on Earth change it???
    Does anyone in the team honestly think that it's the name that stands in the way of a better product / more customers????
    I don't think so...
    Instead of spending time on irrelevant things, you guys should be focusing on making the editor better, and easier to use. Over the years, the same things take more clicks to do.
    Also, links in text are a pain to edit, just to name a few glitches.
    Imagine someone searching for a tutorial about "Kit' on youtube...
    What will they type in the search bar? How will search engines know that they meant the newsletter service Kit?
    That's like Coca Cola rebranding to "Coke", because that's the category they make.
    With your product people can convert readers to subscribers, and from subscribers to customers. It's a "kit" that makes "conversion", hence Convertkit.
    That was my rant here - btw, I really respect Nathan as an entrepreneur.

      I agree with everything you said. I think there are better ways to make use of time/resources that will actually support creators than changing the name

      Thanks for sharing! Change can be jarring and confusing at first, but I think you'll get used to it faster than you expect. The nice thing is we can really improve the product AND change the name to something that better supports our vision.

    There are so many niches that need kits and likely have them which makes this seem way way too broad of a name. At least with ConvertKit you know to some degree what kit you are getting. If I just named a shop "shop", that wouldn't be helpful to my customers at all.

      Names are difficult.
      A company named kit implies:
      You are a platform that allows people to sell kits... or... you help people make and or sell kits.
      Something about kits... not just one very specific kit.

      yea, this is a meaningless rebrand, feels like its driven more from the inside than any real need, it's coming from restlessness. we ONLY "LAUNCH" "CREATE" "CONNECT" to CONVERT. So convert seems like the right name. Doesn't mean you can't do other stuff, Getting to caught up in words. Thats not what a brand is.

    I just signed up yesterday. So, as a new person, it always feels a little weary. However, I've learned to trust my gut. My gut tells me that I joined just at the right time, although one of my nerves is there is a learning curve. And if there is a huge learning curve to learn what's there now and then again in September. Thank you for being transparent.

      @Convertkit Thank you. Is there a step by step process of how to get started 🤔 once you've signed up? I worked on getting my domain and email set up. A couple more steps to get them to talk to each other before . I'm a logical yet creative thinker, so I like order of operations that make logical sense with simple explanations before I jump into the creative part of my brain.

      @nathanbarry unfortunately the start of it isn't going well. It's not completely obvious what steps to take. After 4 days of frustration, I handed it over to my husband to figure it out, and it froze our ability to even figure out how to send emails to what things are. Since this is something I am an absolute beginner in and am trying to test things out. It's exceptionally frustrating to figure out the steps as a beginner. The words might as well be in a different language. I'm hoping you can help clarify things for me. We submitted the answers to the questions after thr lock out, but how am I supposed to figure out how the platform works without testing things? Thanks.

    Congratulations on the change! Several times I have looked at convert kit and the one thing that stopped me was the name. Why? For b2c the idea that convert kit would be on every form did not appeal. It looked to sales like for my non-business consumer audience. I am sold....well done!

    The first thing I thought about when I heard it will be called KIT only? Ok, shorter is better. But does it mean they have grown so strong, that they would leave the creators and focus on enterprise companies? I'm so happy, with your decision to make your rebranding process so transparent visible in public! now. So I'm courirous about what's coming next!

    Any brand is only as strong as its weakest link. We have been a member for a few months, and many of the "Tools" in your "Kit" are not intuitive, which is understandable, and that is why there is "Chat" tech support and Knowledge Base. Which, by far as a new creator, is your weakest link. On average, we wait over 60 minutes to resolve learning curve issues, and it isn't easy to use the knowledge base if you need help with what you need. You could use RUclips as a training source, but your Playlist needs to provide a learning flow.

      I absolutely 2nd this. I am a 14 year business owner. As an organization we use some very complex software. Convert Kit needs to find a intuitive flow. I almost quit my trial because of the lack of intuitiveness.
      Your tech support is the only thing that has me moving forward to a paid plan.
      Yes ... once you understand how it works it makes sense. However I suggest a set of videos... no more than 5 that help the new users understand the relationship between the individual tools and how they work to deliver the product.
      Example... no one talks about rules... only visual automation

    Really, this rebranding sounds like a personal tick?
    You are still helping creators earn money, essentially "converting" their online presence to money.
    As long as you focus on the tool and how helpful it is and not so much on how it sounds to you, you should be fine!

    My first impression was that i didn't like the switch. But... after watching this video, and the thought that went into it, I think I do like it a lot. This was a great video. A toolkit for creators. Its a cool idea. There is a lot of competition in the space, and it makes sense to do something big like this. The 10k free plan is probably a good idea too. I'm curious to see how it goes. Good luck.

    I respect the process and the intentionality and thought going into this. Having said that, I'm not a huge fan of the change. Kit to me sounds rather generic and if I had to think of an association, it sounds like something to do with skincare or fashion. Almost like it needs another word beside it to clarify what sort of kit we're talking about - e.g. toolkit, sewing kit, a wellness kit, or brand kit etc. If someone already knows that it's ConvertKit, then they'll understand "Kit" in light of that, because they know the context. But on its own Kit doesn't really mean anything that's specifically related to what you do as a company, which I imagine is fundamentally still email marketing for creators. It also doesn't quite have the same mouthfeel like the way it rolls off the tongue.
    Btw just to clarify I've been a user for 8 years and love ConvertKit :) so not a hater, just sharing my thoughts.
    At the end of the day @Convertkit @nathanbarry do what makes sense to you, and what energizes you as a team and business. Sometimes changing things up is fun. Wishing you all the best!

      For a while, we’ve felt that our current name no longer reflects the scale of our mission and vision.
      ConvertKit sounds too technical and niche, and it doesn’t fully capture everything that creators do with our platform.
      We wanted a name for our company that was:
      → Tied to our mission
      → One word
      → Easy to hear and spell over the phone
      → Not too technical
      Kit checks all those boxes, and gives us a great starting point for building a new brand identity while staying connected to our 11+ years of experience serving creators as ConvertKit.
      Hope that provides a little more context on why we decided to go with Kit!

    Kit is cool. Like first creators gonna kind of dislike it but in the long time, It may be a gamechanger for Convert.. sorry Kit.

    Brilliant. Rebranding is difficult, but I think the series can give the audience and customers a way to understand the process, decisions and be part of it.

    I get that you wanted to simplify the name, but Kit just seems so generic and not special. However, it's not as bad as "X." LOL. I'm still a fan, and I look forward to watching you rebrand in public. :)

      we've absolutely learned from our past mistakes. We did a bunch of research with creators this time before making the decision. I'm confident it's going to stick! But totally understand that we need to prove it to you first. We'll work on it :)

      Back in 2018, after we announced the change to Seva, we started hearing from creators who had genuine concerns about the name.
      We listened, learned, and decided to change our name back to ConvertKit.

      When the opportunity arose to own Kit.com, we learned from that past experience.
      We took our time to conduct more research and get on calls with creators to get their feedback before making our decision.
      Ultimately, we see Kit as a natural evolution of ConvertKit.
      It’s already part of our name, and because we help creators do more than just convert, our name will now reflect that too.

    I'm not trying to be rude, because I think ConverKit is amazing! But why do you keep trying to change the name?
    I didn't like the Seva rebrand because the name meant nothing. While Kit is better than Seva, I don't like "Kit" either.
    In my humble opinion, it takes a great name and turns it into something bland & generic.
    If you're going to rebrand, at least chose something the resonates with the people that love your brand. I heard your reasons
    for wanting to change the name, but Kit just doesn't do it for me. I looked at some of the other comments in this thread and I saw a GREAT suggestion from someone who recommended "CreatorKit." I thought the name was PERFECT...and it suits everything you're trying to do.

    I don't like it.🤦🏻‍♂ The real danger of things going downhill from now no. Why would you spend your energy on something like that? ConvertKit is a great and established name. Good luck nevertheless. I look forward to other creator's rebranding stories.
