    From what I remember, Bruce Willis was supposed to be a sidekick in this game but Neversoft and Activision was worried the game would sell terribly unless they had him as the main protagonist in the game. It'll explain why some of his dialogue sounds a bit out of place at some points as if he was talking to someone because they didn't have time to redo dialogue for him.

    -You run around, shoot, kill guys, blow shit up.
    -Sign me up.
    Pure awesomeness.

    • @jeremyriley1238
      @jeremyriley1238 8 лет назад +3

      During development, the original plan was you weren't going to play as Willis' character, but as his involvement decreased as development went on, they changed it so his character was the hero as to reduce the necessity to have spoken dialogue as was originally intended.

    • @OpenMawProductions
      @OpenMawProductions 3 года назад

      @@jeremyriley1238 You can tell this from many of the one liners being direct fourth wall breaking lines, as if Willis is talking to someone. He was, YOUR character. It's very interesting to compare the prototype prison break section to the final one. Of course, it seems like such a smart move to have the player PLAYING Bruce and not being his partner.

    The Apocalypse game engine was reworked for use on Neversoft's next title, the seminal Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.[6] Already having in mind that they were going to begin work on Tony Hawk following completion of Apocalypse, the team said they had developed rough in-house playable demos of Trey Kincaid skateboarding around Apocalypse's game environments in order to experiment with the way they wanted Tony Hawk to feel. Even though Neversoft continued to develop and evolve the engine primarily to suit the needs of the Tony Hawk series, it was also put to use in another action title by the team, the popular Spider-Man game they released in 2000. The aspect of the engine that allowed for the live-action music videos to be displayed within Apocalypse's game world was also utilized in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater as well as other subsequent Neversoft titles.

      I guess its because of the "punk" style of the game: the cities with a huge tecnology but dark and brutal, like at The Matrix, The Fifth Element ( which Bruce Wyllys plays too) and Blade Runner. There is a correct name of this style, but I dunno

    Watched the entire walkthrough. Man the memories...
    So many movie references i didn't noticed that time. My favorites are when Trey enters the labor to see Larry and says to him "I thought you were dead" is a quote directly from Escape from New York and and the robots at Level 8 war factory are modeled after the Ed209 from RoboCop. Not to forget the Pulp Fiction reference Trey says to his ex girlfriend "It's a Chopper Baby" just to name a few.

    • @PS1GamerCollector
      @PS1GamerCollector 8 лет назад +6

      Because it's all about the enjoyment and good memories that your brain will happily remember, not random stuff that happens in your life.
      Think like this... When you keep getting older and older you will want to remember stuff that didn't mean nothing to you or you will want to remember moments that defined your life? (not just games but everything that for you is a sweet memory that you will be happy by remembering it)
      That is why you remember something that happened ages ago but you don't remember what was your lunch 2 days ago (for example).

    That game made my childhood, alongside Colin McRae Rally, Tekken 2-3, Driver...
    Unfortunately my dad confiscated it, the game had a 18+ rating back in the day, and I had gotten a pirated version from a friend.
    The War Factory and War Bossfight were scratched or something, I could only ever go straight to the White House.
    Always played at night, when I was supposed to sleep, sound nearly turned off and TV brightness as low as possible so I didn´t get caught.
    Aaaah, fond memories. The world was a simpler place back then, and Bruce Willis still kicked ass.

    • @CFox_
      @CFox_ 7 лет назад

      haha my parents never gave a shit about this game and me and my sister playing it, it might be because it was pirated without cutscenes and voice lines.
      as a kid I only got to the white house level, got stuck there because I got to the checkpoint in front of the white house with 30% HP.

    I always meant to own/try out this title along with the Fifth Element for the Sony PS1 but then time passed and I grew up.... honestly, there were way to many releases during this time 1990's-2000's and I could not buy or rent them all. Forsaken , Xena PS1, Hybrid Heaven, Fade to Black, Tomba series , Tobal series, and Body Harvest also come to mind

    The gameplay in this looks so much like Metroid:Other M, except without the dodge move.

    otro increible juego de la era ps1/saturn/n64! todavia lo sigo jugando a pesar de tener 17 años y haber nacido durante estas nuevas generaciones. Estos son juegos y no como los que salen ahora que son mas de los mismo (CoD , PES o FIFA) principalmente en mi pais que solo se juega eso.

      Bueno, teneís la suerte de seguir jugandolo. Yo tengo mi ps1 ahi tirada, y el juego no lo encuentro por ningun lado. Necesitaria saber donde estan los viejos vendedores de juegos de ps1 !!!!

      sino podrias chipearla asi te grabas el juego desde un CD o comprarte una de esas consolas raspberry pi que estan muy buenas y emulan practicamente perfecto ps1(en mi caso eso es lo que voy a hacer yo,ya que lamentablemente ya no poseo mi PS1 y quiero volver a usar este genial juego) o buscar el juego por internet en cualquier pagina como ebay, mercadolibre o amazon por nombrarte algunas!
