If you were in their shoes, dealing with an extremely rare medical condition, you would also use it as an opportunity to learn. The reason we have so much advancement in medical technology, is because some patients allowed doctors and researchers to use their experience to improve medicine.

There was Baby Ayah back in 2021 with the same condition and she got the treatment and is thriving. International exposure helped in raising the funds. Share widely and it is doable.

This is a genetic condition inherited in autosomal recessive pattern meaning both copies of the SMN1in each cell have mutations. I would advise them to get test first before getting another baby. May Kiama be healed

@@ichaihellen2033yes ivf and genetic testing on embryos. The embryos can be tested for the gene before being implanted in the womb.
@@EP_PLAYZ00actually it's possible but there is always a 25% chance of the baby getting it.
Since both are carriers it means that they both have one healthy gene that's why they don't have the condition. They have a 25% chance of a completely healthy baby, 50% chance of a carrier baby and 25% chance of a sick baby. The only disadvantage is that it all happens by chance. Unless genetic testing is done on the embryos.

Our baby girl who's 1 yr, 8months was diagnosed with severe heart defects 2days after birth whereby we were referred to India for treatment. Close to one yr God came through for us n she was treated, right now she's catching up slowly with the help of therapy sessions. We are truly grateful to God for restoration her health... They need to follow doctor's advice before conceiving again because it will be the same case for ever.
The parents of a person with SMA each carry one copy of the changed SMN1 gene and are known as 'carriers'. They do not show signs and symptoms of the condition. In order for carrier parents to have a child affected by SMA, both parents must pass on an SMN1 gene containing a change to their child.

This is untimely but we should have genetic counsellors in kenya.They are genetists with a counselling background and they work to counsel parents with genetic conditions about the risk of passing conditions to a child.
They also prepare the parents before the baby is born about potential outcomes ,to test the babies condition at the earliest time including in utero.
This gives the parents more time to process as they prepare to meet baby, and may (key word may) make it a bit easier to accept diagnosis and also to start treatement interventions at the earliest.
That being said Kenyan doctors are usually overworked and underpaid but i think they also have a moral responsibility towards patients .To talk to them slowly,empathetically and honestly.
also preconception care shd be made mandatory in our country for couples newly wedded and those that are trying for babies
In an ideal situation where the government cares for its people this little girl would have gotten all the medical care she needs free of charge.

People talk about the power of prayer but the power of a plant based diet is underrated. Put this child on a Plant based diet IMMEDIATELY. When modern medicine fails that's the ONLY way. Stop giving him cows milk, eggs, meat, chicken and fish and watch him come to life. The plant based diet returns the body to it's original setting. If you compare our teeth with animals that eat meat, our teeth doesn't have any similarities. Our set of teeth resembles that ones of apes. It's important you give him whole plant based, NOTHING processed . A lot of fruits too and green juices. By one month you'll see the good food repairing all the broken pieces and by no time he will be back to health.

Also having juices everyday will spike blood sugar levels increasing total calories added in a day … am just trying to say that eating like ‘apes is not a healthy option just as eating like lions is not ‘…. It’s a balance . And that’s why God gave us dominion over all .
