I had racing homers: Red Checks, Blue Checks, Belgium Silver, Blue Bars, White and Black, and a few variations of the above and I had one white oriental Roller.I lived in Fairfield, CT and when my parents went to Lancaster PA to visit the Amish I would take about 15 of them in a wicker basket and let them go. They would be home in a few hours. I had to get a friend to close up the entrance. My uncle Joe who was a tool designer and had many skills including carpentry build a pigeon coop that was a masterpiece. Raising pigeon was the best hobby I ever had!
My 1 year old is obsessed with pigeons. She loves watching this video from time to time. Plus I got to learn about “racing pigeons” for the first time in my life. 😅
Came across this video by chance as I found a racing pigeon in the middle of the road today - assume it was a racing/homing pigeon as it had little coloured rings around its feet. It was hopping around with one leg lifted up and didn’t seem fazed by us when we walked past (outside a shop on a busy main road) and was trying to get under a van nearby so I scooped it up and took it to the nearest vets who said they’ll look on the racing association database for its owner. Keeping everything crossed it gets back. But at least it won’t be ran over, attacked or starved now. Hope I did the right thing!

Lucky u have such an amazing location u can see your birds as far as they go... no pain of having tall buildings that act as barrier to watch ur pigeons fly
