- My young racing pigeons of 2021 enjoying flight ranging, foraging in the garden, bath and sun basking. Happy days before the racing career about to start soon. They also got some hawk and falcon attacks - it is the first year when the falcons attack at home during summer.
You can also see the youngsters ranging far away in the territories of both falcons on the opposite sides of the valley.

Came across this video by chance as I found a racing pigeon in the middle of the road today - assume it was a racing/homing pigeon as it had little coloured rings around its feet. It was hopping around with one leg lifted up and didn’t seem fazed by us when we walked past (outside a shop on a busy main road) and was trying to get under a van nearby so I scooped it up and took it to the nearest vets who said they’ll look on the racing association database for its owner. Keeping everything crossed it gets back. But at least it won’t be ran over, attacked or starved now. Hope I did the right thing!

I clocked my dad's first overall winner when I was 12 back in 1984, it was a 582 mile race. Release time was 5:55am and Bird came home at 4:53pm. BB H was sitting on 17 day eggs.

Do you ever have problems with the wire mesh and their tail feathers ?
No problem with the tail feathers and the mesh. Only when they try to climb the wire mesh walls they will ruffle the tails a bit but it is temporary.

Clean fresh water only, and sometimes with apple cider vinegar to keep tricho down. I also select for birds that like flying, I stopped road training them years ago. Avoiding stress, waste of time and budget. Feeding Versele and Vanrobaeys junior mixes.
