Good questions. The Hakushu Distillery was a completely different experience than The Yamazaki Distillery. Bottles for sale were nothing to write home about. They had miscellaneous spirits and such. Things you could buy out of Japanese supermarkets. Akadama Port Wine, umeshu etc. The day I was there in the gift shop they didn't have Hakushu on display in the shop, you had to ask for it and they keep it under the counter. The sad part was it was only the no age statement one. I'm only interested in the harder to find age statement variants. There was no tasting bar either. Instead of a tasting bar they had a restaurant. A lot of food but not so much drinks. I saw the menu from the outside and didn't bother to go in. With all that being said I highly enjoyed visiting this distillery. The tour sounds audibly the same as Yamazaki's, but because the distillery is so much more newer it's more impressive to look at. The whisky museum is completely different to the one at Yamazaki as well. It was a tranquil, exotic experience through and through.
What bottles were available to buy at the distillery?
do you happen to have a menu of what was offered for tasting?
