I learned a lot. The presenter has provided ample information on the topic. IB vs AP, some schools offer a combo. While IB got started in Europe for children whose parents are on diplomatic missions or duties, AP had its beginning right here in the USA. There are schools that cannot offer to have either one of the programs. Nevertheless, students in college application will be considered based on the rigor of the curriculum available at their respective school.
Great summary of the IB and AP program over other videos that I have seen. I didn't even know that there was a cost for IB programs and IB exams since it's taken care of by our large public school system. Also, it was great to hear about the AP program not have the right quality of teachers to pass the exam.
This was a very informative video. If we don't get the choice of AP in school Can a student take up these courses through tutors outside of the school on individual basis and write the AP exams on their own? Thank you so much for the excellent info.
College credit depends on the college. If you only want to do ib for college credit don’t do. Instead do AP because way more schools give credit and you can chose which courses you want to do.
I live in the inner city of Cleveland. My child attends a boarding school. They do not offer any AP/IB courses. They have their own college level classes. My child is up to midnight doing homework. My friends kids attend Cleveland public schools and take AP classes. They never have homework. Have never read a book on their own (they read as a class), have never written a paper, etc. Yet the school claims this is college prep. I don't get it! ! Plus the school discourages students from taking the AP test.
Hi Churra. I'm not sure what your question is. The curriculum is not the most important thing: it's the performance of the student. If CPS is offering AP courses, that means very little. How well are the students doing in those courses? If they never have homework, I'm guessing that they are not keeping up. And if they don't take the test, perhaps they are not prepared to take it. Anyway, thanks for your comment.
I am a U.S. citizen studying outside of the U.S. and I am totally sure I want to go to the U.S. in the future for the college. My school offers both IB and AP classes. Which one would be more beneficial to me? Both seem great and I can't make a choice!
If you are reading this, it depends. IB courses are more effort than AP, and is the most advanced course you can take. If you like a challenge, like specially gifted and talented challenge, go for IB. If your planning to go to college, check to see what credits your college accepts to make a decision

This is probably the best video for parents to watch if they have questions. Thank you For the in-depth explanation sir
Glad it was helpful!

I have many gabs in skills and knowledge so I prefer to enroll to ib to learn skills.
I thought there were 38 subjects in AP? I love your videos though!
Not as helpful as I wanted. What are the actual IB classes? When does it start. Are all IB classes two years? What college credit do you get for IB?

the perfect score for IB is 45...may i know what is the maximum score for AP?
5 is the best you can get on any individual course, every AP course is independent so the there is no overall score for AP courses

Are you sure they offer AP? An AP student would get a lot more work than that.
