    Chaotic good Rogue vs Lawfull Evil Paladin.
    Some bad deals are made by the rogue, gets turned into soul coin, lawfull evil pala knows, hides it from the party. 'Oh no we ran outta fuel' *pop* rest of party hears their missing rogue scream out in agony being obliterated by the infernal machine. 'Oh, thats where he went...'

    Soul coins are basically much like the Oboli coins from White Wolf's "Wraith: the Oblivion" then. Except there is actual release, since it is just a container for a soul rather than the soul itself reshaped into something inanimate.

    • @krispalermo8133
      @krispalermo8133 4 года назад +2

      I have "Wraith: book, Oboli is a " piece " of a Soul. D&D5e Soul Coin is the Whole Soul.
      I also have Mage: the Awakening book. That deals with soul eating Spirits. Quick translate.
      Oboli coins are not "tass" and hold no manna . There are rules for trapping spirits in "genie lamps," or Magic Jar some person soul, then you can draw off willpower and manna off of the trap soul in question.
      D&D, they deal in character class levels and the spells Vampiric Touch, Enervation, & Energy Drain .
      I am just happy you are a White Wolf fan of Wraith.

    We used Soul Coins in the online game Armageddon MUSH back in the late 90s/early 2000s, as some souls were minted in to coinage by the Damned to use as a currency. So, I wouldn't say it was a unique idea, but certainly new to D&D.

  • @argentpuck

    I'm very curious what the alignment implications would be for using one of those soul-powered vehicles. It is a reasonable assumption that the soul involved was sufficiently evil to wind up in the Nine Hells and in a world with rigid ideas of Good and Evil, is there any moral quandary? Specifically, would a Paladin of Bahamut have any reason to object or, worse yet, would Bahamut have any objection? Basically, the soul has already been judged and damned, so is there any reason to press for redemption?

    • @CodeeXD
      @CodeeXD 5 лет назад +4

      Nah that is their sentence they have been judged and this is their final punishment. Or if you want to you can look at it like they have served their sentence and you are releasing them from eternal agony, although I think some lawful good God's may have a problem with this. 🤷‍♂️

    • @DevinParker
      @DevinParker 5 лет назад +6

      I think that's one of my favorite aspects of soul coins and the warmachines. I think everything the PCs do in the Nine Hells should ideally be fraught with moral peril; the longer they're there, the more likely it becomes that they'll give in to some temptation or be forced to compromise whatever moral codes they have in order to survive. I love the idea of characters being forced to grapple with these questions even as their players are having fun roaring around in Fury Road vehicles.

    THE SOUL TRADE : Soul Stones & Coins
    1.) AD&D2e " Planescape " box set campaign setting
    a.) Creating a Soul Stone. All you needed is a 14th-level Wizard that can cast 7th-spell level spells.
    i.) Bestow Curse to weaken the victim Fortitude save vs Polymorph Other by Rods.
    ii.) Polymorph Other target victim into a mouse size box turtle , then make them pull their heads and limbs into their shell.
    iii.) Flesh to Stone turns victim into a 1/2lb sling stone shape as a turtle paper weight.
    iv.) Cast Ensnarement to summon a Lower Planes Fiend, night hag, I prefer devil. To trade the newly formed Soul Stone.
    2.) Elemental Spells
    a.) Fire Trap is an elemental spell that taps one types of element power. In AD&D2e " Complete Necromancer hand book"
    states you can pull off " Fire " Trap with Negative energy instead of Fire energy. Or you could go with Stone/ variants: salt
    and Metal is group into the Elemental Plane of Earth/Stone.
    b.) 4th-level: Wall of Stone, 5th-level: Wall of Iron.
    i.) 6th-level: Flesh to Stone, 7th-level: Flesh to Iron.
    3.) After your wizard cast the right spells or makes the needed Wands & Rods, they can end up with a glowing crystal 1/2lb stone turtle or an ornate iron turtle that can be hammer down and minted.
    a.) The weight of the stone/ iron polymorph item can weight in between 1/2lb to as little as oz or a few grams .
    4.) Value of said Stone or Coin.
    a.) Adventures have higher class level than none adventures.
    i.) the souls of a 4th-level spell caster is of more value than a run of the mill 4th-level fighter.
    ii.) cleric souls, souls of the Devout & Faith have stronger " Divine " spiritual energy to break down and feed on.
    b.) Spell Caster : Spell Slots vs Spell Points.
    Converting spell slots into spell points, make a Spellcraft roll and if the spell cast has core caster ability of 17, then they can cast 7th-level spell, " Limited Wish/ Limited Miracle." for 14 spell points.
    Or pooling lower level spell slot together to total seven slots.
    i.) 5th-level cleric, one 3rd-level spell, two 2nd-level spell, four 1st-level spells. Per Day Total:
    x.) nine 1st-level spells.
    xx.) two 1st-level spells, three 3rd-level spells.
    xxx.) one 1st-level spell, five 2nd-level spells
    ix.) four 1st-level spells, one 7th-level spell.
    * 3.5e Spellcraft DC: 22 ( 10 base +7th-level spell+8caster level -- 3 for Wis:17+3modifier)
    5th-level cleric Spellcraft: 8ranks ; roll 14 on d20 to cast " Limited Miracle."
    x.) bard4th/sorcerer4th CR:8 Cha:17 ; Spellcraft: 14ranks.; roll 8 on d20
    " uh, chaotic neutral nut job just Plane Shift them self to Limbo ?!"
    c.) A Lower Plane Fiend can draw divine or arcane spell energy off a Soul Stone or Coin each day to cast a bonus
    " Limited Wish." Or use Vampiric Touch to pull Spiritual energy/ Hp to heal themselves.

    If souls are turned into soul coins first, and the owner can release the soul to become a lemure, does that mean all those lemures in Avernus were just released into the wild for no reason?
    Makes more sense to say the souls become lemures first automatically.

      Descent into Avernus is a campaign designed for levels 1-13, and we're likely to see more supplemental information material periodically posted on this channel. They did something similar for Waterdeep: Dragon Heist and Dungeon of the Mad Mage last year.

    Soul coins, you say? So this entire adventure is a JoJo reference, then?

    So I could create a demon army using soul coins? Or claim Devil status by simply giving enough to the right Devil

    I guess this is the fate of all warlocks, their patron waits upon the gates of Hell for their freshly minted Soul Coin

    I miss soul larvae. I think it's way more messed up to buy and sell souls if the players see this tiny wriggling thing with a face begging not to be sold to a devil or nighthag.

      Correction way LESS messed up because they aren't devils and nighthags

    I see Chris Perkins' hat fetish is spreading...

  • @Sannypowa

    You remove NE and CE alignments from AL and you add things like soul coins to the campaign forcing character to burn the souls of unknown good or evil alike NPCs. This is nonsense and edgy and I expect not to see it again in future seasons.

    Sorry Chris Perkins , the idea of soul coins is not something your guys created, DC comics had that idea a long time ago , Hellblazer !!! . The newest episode of Legends of Tomorrow has soul coins in it too , so I would take a look at that before you go saying your guys invented soul coins..they did not.

    You don’t put that in the hand of the player characters??? It better be in the book! You can’t have a detail like that and skirt around it. Give us as much info and let us do what we will with it. Don’t limit us 😒

      Eric De León Just to clarify, he said that the coin-making Isn’t put into the hands of players. Players will no doubt interact with existing coins

      All you need is a 14th-level wizard to cast the spells needed to create Soul Stones & Coins.
