How can I get you to ship me some of this stuff? I've been wanting to use 2k but haven't found a good budget friendly solution. And you have sold me on this.

I've just used the rustoleum clear big can. 340g. 2-3 coats. And my model truck that i just built came out great. $12 Candian. The small can's are way to expensive. There are ways to save yourself some money.

Good information. I started using a 2k clear a couple years ago, ACME brand. Luckily I haven’t had to use a reducer, although it seems a little thick. But it does fine through the airbrush.

When is was first starting out i used Mr hobby top coat which is a water based resin, extremely low solid clear (sold in rattle cans), my record was something like 7-8 cans for a single model! that stuff was a bear to deal with, great learning curve though. Now i have an Iwata airbrush and will be testing Zero paint 2k on my current build later this year.

Zore paint 2k Diamond is awesome. I bought the big box $33,- about. And can paint about 12 car bodies with it. Be sure you mix it as said on the instructions, and you get the perfect result. 25 PSI on a 0.5 needle,3 coats and your done. I let it dry for 7 days, but it is normaly hardened at 72-80 hours, depending the temperature.

Thanks just subbed to channel, so keep- em coming, lm known as Rockabilly scale kustoms ( later)

Great vid, but unfortunately my living conditions is not conducive to spraying enamels or lacquers. I can't put in any ventilation in, so I'm stuck with water based acrylics. That's what sucks about Pledge discontinuing their Revive It (used to be Future) line. I'm now stuck on buying overpriced "model" clear coats. Even painting in my garage, I can only keep the garage door open maybe four months of the year as I live in northern North Dakota and we only have 2 seasons. Winter and road construction ... and winter is (for the purpose of painting) 7-8 months of the year.

🏍️ RustOleum Lacquer Glosscoat is better than Duplicolor Gloss, but only on Duplicolor paint. ModgePodge works well with Tamiya.
Don't think that Testors One Coat will go over Tamiya Spray lacquers.

    • @FuelsModels

I’ve never used this product but all I use is a cheap automotive 2K at $27 a quart kit. The 2K I a 4.1 mix and o have found that reducing it a 1 so o have a 4.1.1 mix I get the best results. Without reducer it has to go on to thick to get it to level out and I lose detail. I little hint is you can also use mr color leveling thinner as well. Also the reducer I use is $14 a quart so all in $40 and I’ve done about 25 models with enough left to do another 15-20.

Yes, you will definitely need to reduce somewhere between 5 to 10% give or take is where at I recommend. These clearers are designed to come out of a gun with a 1.3 to a 1.8 mm tip
