      @LoomaHat  8 лет назад

      +Karen Battisti Karen - thanks for the question. I overlooked the information. I did finish it and answered you on another comment - but just in case each set was about 1 skein and 1/2. For both sizes you just need a little over 2 skeins

  • @heathersaldanha472
    @heathersaldanha472 7 лет назад

    Denise: I have two questions on this. First, did you use one or two strands of yarn? and second, after you gather bind off and turn the item inside out you pull tight and sew up the hole area. I notice you end up cutting two strands of yarn, where did this other strand come from? Thanks. I enjoy your tutorials.

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  7 лет назад

      Wow Heather - so I had not noticed that ! This video was a while ago and I don't remember - so sorry. However, I can assure you that the project was done using only 1 strand of yarn through out. The yarn does not lend itself well for 2 strands - not to mention that I don'e like using 2 strands with baby items. Hope that helps some

    Hi there, I am new to loom knitting and I found your channel and this project. I am using a 41 peg loom. I marked 2 pegs so I know when to knit and when to purl. My problem is I have three pegs left and I don't know if I should mark 2 to knit and leave one to purl, or vise versa, or just knit all three. I know this will change the look if the cocoon. Please help, I can't figure out what to do. Thanks 😁

  • @amelias5377

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  7 лет назад

      Nope - you will be fine it will just look a bit different.

  • @aadun1
    @aadun1 7 лет назад

    I am making this, but I tend to wrap very loosely, virtually no tension on the yarn. What do you think? Will that affect the way it turns out? I like to loom knit this way. It makes getting off the peg easier. I suppose it will turn out bigger and looser?

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  7 лет назад

      A bit looser but should be a big deal. Should turn out fine.

    • @joncampos8843
      @joncampos8843 6 лет назад

      Ann d. I hold my loom vertically and wrap the yarn till I feel it “hanging “ onto the peg. With practice you will eventually find what works for you. Make sure the yarn is hugging each peg but not a bear hug. Lol

      You can knit flat but you would need to sew it

    Hi, I have a quick question. if I were to use a #3 weight for this should I double my strands? or would using the 48 peg purple KK loom (well, the Cindwood equivalent) be ok? I also went to the website and could not find the pattern for the matching hat.

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  9 лет назад

      +Alena Cooper You shouldn't have to use 2 strands. The 48 pegs loom has closer pegs then the other KK looms. But I don't recommend using a weight less then 4. Here is the post with the pattern. .. You will find a Newborn pattern for the cocoon and right under that pattern is the hat. www.loomahat.com/baby-cocoon/
      Hope that helps

      So just one strand of a #3 weight baby yarn probably wouldn't work out so well, would it? Darn, I found the cutest yarn in that weight and bought it to make a second cocoon.
      Thank you for the link for the hat and for getting back with me so quickly. I absolutely love your videos and have learned so much from watching!

      Hi Alena, you can always make a swatch to see if you're ok with the # 3 you already have on hand. Those numbers are not that reliable. All # 4s are not created equal - I have some # 5 yarn that is thinner then some # 3. I don't recommend it only because in general if you want a tight stitch where little toes can't escape a thin yarn would be an issue.
      Knit about 10 - 15 pegs for about that many rows and see how the fabric looks.

    I made one for my friends baby shower I followed the advice you gave on your website about making a S because that is usually the correct size. But now that the little one is here it is actually a size to small what can I do to fix it?

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  7 лет назад

      Small in width or length - with width - you can not fix it would require a remake - if length - watch last weeks video: ruclips.net/video/TL6JjRRbw-A/видео.html

    I tried doing this piece for a regular size baby and it came out too small and very sloppy. Than i tried using a bigger loom and a thicker thread and now its too big? Does the type of thread I use also depend on the size of the loom? please help :) thank you!

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  9 лет назад +1

      +Andrea Alban A few questions : What brand of looms and how many pegs.. What weight was your yarn, how much does the baby weigh and did you see the size chart on the website post: www.loomahat.com/baby-cocoon

    • @andreaalban1057
      @andreaalban1057 9 лет назад

      +LoomaHat.com thank you for your questions. I actually watched your video again and repeated the whole project from scratch. I used the 36 peg loom for my heavy thread that required a 10 mm crochet gage. It came out looking great!! Your instructions were perfect it was my concentration that was lacking. 😂😂

    Denise. How do you do k2 p2 on a 41 pegged loom?

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  7 лет назад +1

      Tim - some as any other loom - at the end you will have to eliminate one of the purls so the last 3 stitches will be k2 p1 - you wont notice when you're done

      Hard for me to say - I don't know how fast you knit. The average knitter will take about a week for the set.

    If you are worried about the curling and all, couldn't you start with a crochet cast on? Also what do you do if your large loom is 41 pegs instead of 40? That makes for that knit two purl two part a bit odd.......

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  9 лет назад

      +Why Do I Have To Have A Channel In this particular design I wanted the fabric to curl. If you don want it to curl then you need to use a combination stitch like the garter stitch... your cast-on is not going to stop the fabric from curling. As far as the odd number of pegs you just add an extra knit or purl - it's only one stitch and will barely be noticeable to anyone even to you who did the extra stitch and know exactly where it is
      Hope that helps
