- In this video, I will show you how to relink the tables to your back-end file in Microsoft Access, should the location of that table move. We'll see how to use the Linked Table Manager to relink the file.
Nicholas from Baltimore, Maryland (a Platinum Member) asks: I recently installed a new file server. This involved moving everything around, including my Access back-end database file. I split my database like you instructed in your video. Now, I'm getting a run-time error 3024 with Access saying it can't find the file. How do I fix this?
Silver Members and up get access to an Extended Cut of this video. Members will learn how to relink the back-end file automatically using a little VBA. This way, your users and you don't ever need to use the Linked Table Manager. We will prompt them and ask for the new location by having them browse to it.

How to connect biomatric finger print to access database...thanks
Make Access Great Again :)
Indeed. We need red hats (because Access is red. LOL)
does work in work network? i mean can I share it with my colleagues?
Thank you
How do I. fix this? I am unable to open two front ends at the same time "Could not use ; File already in use "
Sounds like you might have: 599cd.com/TFIX
Thank you so much for the tutorial sir. I am having one problem with my front end file. After splitting, if I change the location or name of back-end file, the front end file is not opening. Even with holding shift-key, the access application simply opening to it's default screen asking to create a new database but my front end objects not visible... Plz tell me the solution for this
That's very strange. The SHIFT key bypass should work. Run down this checklist: 599cd.com/Trouble
Does sql server db handle record locking differently from an access db?
In my access db I have a function that will let the user know if a record is busy when they try to edit.
After I migrated I realize it no longer works on edit. So far I've only gotten it to work at the save button. But what that does is allows multiple user to edit the same record but it will only lock for whoever clicks save first.
This is all just for testing & my db isn't so big that it needs to be in sql server. I was just wondering the difference between the two.
Yes, it's different.
On my Linked Table Manager , I can't find "Relink". There is only 4 buttons (OK, Cancel, Select All, Deselect All). I am using MS Office 2013, is it this version issue ?
I don't have a copy of 2013 still floating around, but the LTM has worked pretty much the same going WAAAAY back. Maybe you're in the wrong spot?
I have the same issue
thanks you? If the file has a pass, what should I do?
I don't understand what you mean by "a pass."
Do you mean "password?" If so, type it in.
How you do this using VBA coding?
In the extended cut
@@599CD Hi RIchard, thanks and sorry for my question. I actually wrote it before having watched the whole video.
Great tips! Thanks
