  • We follow up a previous video (link below) about linking an two Access databases, a data-only file (back end) and an application file (front end). What if the front end is not in Access, but, as we often recommend, in SQL Server instead? We think it would go something like this...
    DSN connections are convenient, easy to create, but not portable between computers
    DSN-less connections are recommended in most cases, and refer to the parent tables by a string containing the server login, as opposed to a DSN which must be created on each individual PC that the front-end database is copied to.
