I loved the Vegas trip stories in this episode. I'm having my first ever Vegas trip in a few weeks and I'm in the middle of planning my itinerary. I took notes during this episode and got some ideas of things to see (and avoid). Thanks Sardonicast dudes!
I will proudly take credit for writing the entire Parent's Guide for A Talking Pony!?! on IMDB. I'm surprised the page has been left fragmented with so many missing pieces after thirteen years.
Thank you for finally talking about real cinema! The unknown art house gems of A Talking Pony!?! and A Talking Cat!?! deserve to be recognized and praised as the some of the greatest movies of the last century imo! Forget Denis Villeneuve or Christopher Nolan, David DeCoteau is one of the finest directors working today and I'm glad you two Bois are finally shining a bright light on this true cinema auteur!!! .....!?! Double Feature Criterion Collection When!?!
I wish they had noted David DeCoteau also uses the pseudonym Mary Crawford for these movies as if they would tarnish his good reputation. Some of the credits at the end of both movies are also repeated on the titlecard credits and credit roll.
Have a lot to say about both these films after seeing them several times (Pony?!? 3x and Cat?!? about 20x). I write random comedy things to go in a portfolio and wish I could be a staff writer for Rifftrax so I started writing a riff for A Talking Pony?!? (The free version i used on youtube has the title A Pony Tale or something similar). Main takeaways from off the top of my head- A Talking Pony?!? felt like Dan Schneider wrote Equus. That whipped cream part immediately came to mind when I was watching Quiet On Set. That girl was a trooper getting through the scene and I doubt Decoteau takes the effort to do more than 1 take on most of his films. I was honestly surprised the teen brother that wanted to be models never took their shirts off. The And about A Talking Cat?!?, I would gladly watch a sequel where Duffy gives Phil advice on how to help people using his wealth. That idea I have is more than Andrew Helm had for the film. Would love to visit the 1313 David Decoteau/Mary Crawford sex mansion. Except the floors look like they'd be slippery from bodily fluids and lube. All of the shot transitions looked like the background of the monitors at my Dr's that lists the office hours. Johnny Whitaker looks like what Jonah Hill will turn into if he doesn't stop surfing. Rifftrax released Amazing Bulk a few days after the last Sardonicast came out. And several people said it made them think of Alex. Ps if anyone wants to form a Duffy fan club or hang out to watch The Puppy That Saved Easter lmk
2:13:43 holy shit they're talking about an old RUclips Poop called Mewtwo Rejected from Brawl, spliced with clips from the brutal Elfen Lied. That helped shape so much of my edgelord personality as a teen and It's still my headcanon that Mewtwo splattered those scientists thanks to that lmfao.
High fructose corn syrup isn't any worse for you than cane sugar. Fructose IS bad, of course, but table sugar and honey actually have more fructose. It's all just bad.
I can not believe they didnt talk about or mention the fact that Kristine DeBell used to do porn. I thought they would have found it or be told by someone in the internet. She is most known for being in "Alice in Wonderland: An X-Rated Musical Fantasy" 1976. I mean the jokes would have wrote themselves, Like an obvious Chesire Cat joke.
I though that, after years of being exposed to Cool Cat, Alex had finally come out as a furry, and this episode would be his announcement to the Sard community.
yeah, I’ve been to Sugar factory in Orlando and the weird thing is that the regular food is unironically pretty good also water guy is literally every frat boy from my college days. “baby juice” they’d call it
I like to mention David DeCoteau also makes a bunch of shirtless hot dude movies. And it makes since when he admits of being openly gay. But it usually stars young impressionable boys 🤢
I'll tune in for the podcast when Adam finally admits it's his fuckin' fault we're getting a Mufasa movie just so he can host his stupid little Lion King streams roflmao
17:30 If you guys are interested in old arcade and pinball machines, you should watch the movie 'Pinball: The Man Who Saved The Game'. I'm biased because it's about my uncle lmao, but it is an interesting movie about a little known part of history. He was responsible for the legalization of pinball in New York as it had been deemed to be a gambling device, and often associated with the mafia. He basically just played pinball so well that he proved it was actually a game of skill.
Were you like me and also didn't realize until they appear together towards the end of A Talking Cat!?! that the girl getting tutoring and the girl who wants to go to business school were different people?
You guys were in Vegas!? I might have seen you I don't like the environment of hospitals, therefore a hospital themed restaurant doesn't sound appetizing at all.
The sphere bit reminded me of when I saw avatar in 4DX. It felt so amazing, I remember the flying scene the most, there was mist and wind effects and little light effects with the 3d sound design, it was a lovely experience. I have a list of movies I want in 4d now, like how to train your dragon. The sphere has so much potential
There’s an import tax on sugar, ostensibly to help the relatively tiny sugar producers in the United States. In practice it makes high-fructose corn syrup reliably cheaper than sugar. No import tax on sugar, much less HFCS: they’d use the corn for something else. Another effect is to keep the sugar industry alive in Florida rather than restore the former swamp land that used to be part of the Everglades. If they’re still using hard water from the Yellowstone River to grow sugar beets in Montana, gradually ruining the soil with excessive minerals, I guess that that’s being helped to continue.
I’ve been to the Omnitheater in the science museum in St Paul and I don’t see how the sphere is any different. Like it’s kinda cool but the novelty wears off imo.
1:18:12 I haven’t seen the scene in the movie, so maybe this isn’t it, but mixing water into wet cat food is actually a good way to prevent kidney disease in cats.
Nobody on RUclips is capable of saying “number of” when speaking of discrete things. It’s the new N-word. Invariably these people say “amount of.” To sixtyish speakers of English like me it’s bizarre.
A Talking Sardonicast????
A talking horse??!!
A talking @YouCantDeleteDenzelL ?????
I'm loving this "spite movie recommendation" phase they're going through XD

One of David DeCoteau's 2024 works, The Wrong Life Coach, also features Eric Roberts and stars Cool Cat Saves the Kids actress Vivica A. Fox!?!
A Talking Cat is full of water cutaways...scene -> water/pool -> scene -> water/pool--rinses and repeat.
That line is also from the Simpsons
I though that, after years of being exposed to Cool Cat, Alex had finally come out as a furry, and this episode would be his announcement to the Sard community.
RIP Ralph. It’s a shame that he can’t talk anymore
A Talking Ralph!?! The idea of it
