+reso1349 Thanks Reso. For me they're a real great hard rock band. I think a lot of that had to do with Bob Rock producing Sonic Temple. I don't think anyone on the planet, except Mutt Lange, gets that killer of a sound. Enter Sandman by Metallica and Fire Woman have two of the best intros of all time IMHO and Bob Rock was behind them both! cheers
this is a tasty jam. ive never heard the band who plays this before, but i feel id still like to learn it. thats whats so amazing abput your videos! you have an affinity for the classic rock and i get exposed to songs i never even knew were classics! thanks again dude.
Yeh it's a beauty ..good call. As always, terrific production and will paced delivery. I love how you always emphasise the importance of articulation and intonation...very important to the budding young guitarist. This is a great guitar lesson.
Fantastic job as usual! Billy Duffy flat out rocks. There is a sort of genius in coming up w/ such a cool part that is played on only 2 strings. I love your vids brother, keep up the good work.
Ok that was just crazy effing good! I play also (rhythym) but have been eanting to branch out and with this video and your lesson, I think this will be my first try. I fricking love The Cult....Haven't heard them in a while. Thanks for taking me back to my youth!
Fabulous! Always wondered how this great piece of guitar work was done, there is obviously a lot more to this than meets the eye, a very nice piece of playing, thanks.
Sweet! There was a video of The Cult playing this live at a San Diego radio station that popped up in the suggested videos on the side. I watched it right after this. They're obviously tuned down a half step. Maybe Ian can't hit those high notes anymore.
On the rhythm section after the intro, are you doing a barre chord the first 3 strings or is it just fretting the single note. I can't really tell in the video. Also which strings are you strumming? I have to say sounds just like the original - great playing and it inspires me to learn more. Thank you!
I know you usually shorten the songs, but I would LOVE to hear you play this in full (as I'm sure would many others) - as well as your cover of "Run to you" by Bryan Adams. On your "Fire Woman" demo, you sound more like the Cult than the Cult does! Appreciate all you do - from London, England :-)
Thanks for the kind words I really appreciate it. I pretty well always do shortened versions because I'm afraid of boring people with repetition. Cheers Andy
No worries, I understand your reason - but you are pretty much the best playing teacher I've seen on RUclips - you're definitely not boring to listen to ;-)
I have the Sammy Hagar Signature Les Paul.....v. similar look to what you are playing there.....without the lower toggle switch. What do you have the toggle hooked to?
I've used a BB preamp as a boost and I used a Suhr Riot on parts of my Crazy Train lesson, but I got the same or better tone just from my amp. Back in the day I used a boss overdrive. But honestly IMHO, the entire pedal industry is mostly a scam that convinces younger players they can achieve great guitar sounds through pedals. The truth is that most of your tone is in your hands and comes through thousands of hours of playing guitar. There's no way around it. If you don't put in the work, there's no pedal that can make you sound good! If you have a good amp, that's all you really need. Cheers Andy
So simple, yet such great songwriting.
I agree. Some of the best songs are the simplest. Cheers, Andy.
I can't believe how close this is to the original. What talent
glad to see someone capturing the subtleties of the song... Much more involved then most people think. As usual, great job!
+Mike Wilson Thanks for watching Mike. cheers
Best teacher on RUclips period
You have such a good ear to be able to find the sound of all these artists. Thanks again. With a Les Paul I should add. Awesome.
Five stars!! The Cult is one of my all time Favorite bands.

wow, If your playing wouldn't turn someone on to learning guitar , I don't know what would.
Great video and playing. Thanks, Don.( a beginner)...

Tim Pierce recommended you, thanks for all you do!
Great work on this - would love to see you do "How Soon is Now" - one of Johnny Marr's best from the 80s.
Dude this is pure shred. Awesome homage to the Cult. Do one for 'White' (Ceremony) and 'American Horse' (Sonic Temple) Pls
Brutal version. Love it.
I'll definitel give ur lesson a go

+The Silver Shamrock Ditto!
I just realized how much this song sounds like The Cure.
Wicked
This is the balls...as is Duffy.
What pedals have you owned besides the ones on your gear page

Used to put this on the Juke Box at the local bar. People would go "Wow, Who dat?"
What effects are used to create this sound?
delay + chorus
Actually, I used the detune effect from the Nova system +8-8. I like it better than the chorus. cheers
is delay throughout the whole song? or only the intro
Missing the ecco. You need the original guitar.
make ma back buuuuurn yeeehhhheeahhhhh
Makes me want to play Vice City
What poor solo did they have to pay to play that once chord on the acoustic guitar live? 0:27 Same chord through the entire song haha
3 people couldn't afford the price of sanctuary.
This is all on just two strings isn’t it?
