Father Ted is one of the few shows I've ever seen where you could watch the first episode, and one from the last season and not know which one came first. It was fully formed and realised from the get go. One of the best comedies of the 90s.
Sadly the actor who played father Ted died during later season of the show so it ended the show because the other actors couldn’t face having another actor taking over the role so the writer of the show decided to end the show instead RIP Father Ted Krilly
Actually Dermot Morgan died one day after the third series completed filming and there was never any intention of making another series, even had he lived.
You could've discussed how comedy can tackle serious issues and how a comedy shows can help us make sense of topics like racism/child poverty/gun violence etc 🙂
You should watch that whole episode, there's so many taboos on display!!! Easily one of the funniest things you'll ever see........... & a tiny bit shocking!! 🤣🤣🤣
Think this scene is funny, look for speck of dirt on window in this episode later on. I won't give it away but it goes 1 step further. Also great reaction guys. Definitely watch this as full episodes because the clips alone whilst funny are much funnier in context with rhe show.
This clip gives the wrong confusing impression, because there are a few scenes in between Ted leaving the room and emerging from the front door, so yes, news got round quick, but not THAT quick!
The only thing British about it was the channel it aired on. It was created and written by an Irish man, Irish actors, Irish locations (Co. Clare mainly).
@@Fn-xj8hl because none of the TV Channels in Ireland would touch it, too scared of the potential backlash, though there was some it wasn't as bad as they had feared it would be
@@andreww2098Not true. Both writers were living in London and pitched it there to Hat Trick (which was owned by 3 people of Irish descent). RTE had no experience producing comedy anyway so they never considered pitching it in Ireland. RTE bought the rights at their first opportunity even though most people had seen it on Channel 4 already. There was no fear of a backlash and there was no backlash when it did air.
This is one of the funniest sitcoms ever - but small clips like this don't do it justice - full episodes are a must! (Very small......far away! )
Absolutely 100%.
Father Ted. Three series of heavenly comedy at its very best.

One of the best comedy series ever, on par with Fawlty Towers imo.
As a person from barcelona, Father Ted is far better.
This clip skipped the best parts. I suggest watching the longer version.
you need to watch more of this episode , the Hitler sketch is too funny !!
This is set on a tiny island. Ridiculous that they would have a Chinatown. Also this clip is from a longer episode and it just gets funnier.
You guys need to watch Father Ted, best Irish sitcom ever. Small clips do not do it justice, you need to watch full episodes
Made by Hat-Trick, a British producer.
Rip dermot Morgan and Frank kelly

That’s the point if the church tells you to be racist then a lot of people will be. The actor who played ted was an atheist he knew what was going on.
Gotta love Father Ted
Father Ted Eurovision is literally the best comedy episode ever made

Please watch a lot more of father Ted it’s hilarious but you have to watch a full episode

You must watch episode kick Bishop Brennan up the arse
I concur, every episode was genius but that one is in the top five. "Len, Len, Len, Len, Lenny, Lenny, Len".
"Don't call me Len ya little bollocks".
You should watch that whole episode, there's so many taboos on display!!!

Well said that man, the dirt square scene is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
This is the 2nd best sitcom ever!
I’m torn for your number one but it can only be Only fools and horses surely?
@@ianoo23 Nope. That's number 3.
Bottom is my number 1
@@darrylglynn1557 Has to be Porridge No 1
