Many years ago at E3, I got that gun mouse to take home and review. Suffice to say my bag got searched at the airport and the look of disappointment on the security officer's face when they realized it wasn't a real gun was palpable.

Especially nice with accents. So yes, always appreciated when a creator takes the time to make official ones instead of relying on the auto-generated ones!
It's one of those things that might seem silly at first, but I can kind of imagine how a pistol-mouse would work for first person shooters. Makes me want to try it for myself.
Clint, I just wanted to thank you for all the years of content. From the very ancient abandoned mall videos to the Christmas clone to Oddware, you've grown so much as a channel and provided so much content. Thank you.
I'm amazed that nobody is talking about the extremely classic LGR couch you did the intro sitting on. I remember that from years ago, and what a wonderful sight after all this time!
Man, that Yahoo mouse had so much potential. If you could have bound the "8D" joystick thingamabob to WASD or the arrow keys you could have a pretty usable one handed FPS setup. Not to mention anything else you could use it for, video editing, writing, drawing, etc... There's plenty of use cases for weird, programmable interfaces.
Using your index finder to move the joystick for an extended period of time seems like a recipe for hand pain and discomfort, but that does seem like an interesting use case. DOOM may work well for it, though a normal joystick could also work.
I was thinking that exact same thing, maybe moving to the thumb spot would make a better spot for long term use but it could be cool to bring something like that back in some shape.
OMG! That gun mouse was a terrible product that I just had to have! I remember buying mine at a Fry's Electronics in Sacramento CA. And wouldn't you know, Far Cry was the first thing I played with it. Wow, what a trip down memory lane. We basically had the exact same experience and feelings about it too. OMG I'm just taken back.
Years ago I commented on an LGR video that I never expected to hear Clint say "that's one clean ball bay." Today I get to add the phrases "different ball skins" and "don't see too many brown balls, usually they're gray or black, white even" to the collection. Thanks for the mental images. Oh and the laughs 😂 Oh and I think Ashen's big brown couch and Clint's classic "if woodgrain was a fabric" recliner should battle to the death. Or star in a buddy cop flick together.
Hey man I know you'll probably never read this, but I just wanted to thank you for being one of the most consistent creators I've had the pleasure to follow. Been watching your videos for over 10 years now, and I can honestly say there's nothing that makes me feel more comfortable, and instantly relaxed than turning on one of your videos. Thank you for creating such a safe space on the Internet and for helping me branch out my interests and be a more well rounded person.
I seem to remember early ergonomic mice being similar to the pistol one before they settled on the modern ones that give you an angled hand positions instead of fully vertical, the sensor put way forward on the device rather than cantered is also interesting in that it allows moving left/right by twisting it. As goofy as it is, there seems to be real merit to the idea, I think if it was designed like a joystick handle instead it would be functionally the same but considerably more comfortable.
I tried one of them and wished so badly they come in larger sizes. 3D printable DIY mouse platform where the switches and scroll wheel can be put to whatever wild shape is should be already a possible thing, but its not yet :(

I had the gun mouse years ago (the dual wheel one too) and the thing I remember about it is that because of the placement of the optical sensor at the front of the mouse the way you aim left and right feels incredibly natural. Rather than moving your mouse to the left you twist your wrist slightly to the left the same way you would with a gun. The mouse itself has some serious flaws I agree but the idea behind it is actually kind of cool especially if you just like gizmos and stuff.

oh man I own the MonsterGecko FPS mouse and freaking loved it! only down side is the wire that's on it, way to thin. after about 2 years of constant use the wire started to develop breaks in it, which I still need to get replaced at some point so I can use it again. anyways what's interesting to note about that mouse is that you don't need to slide it sideways to aim left or right, you can do that by simply twisting the mouse left and right from the grip. this feature is so good that you don't even notice it if you aren't paying attention.
Huh, the gun mouse is a stylized version of the vertical mice you see that susposedly help with your wrist since you don't twist your wrist to use them
Myself and my son felt like oddballs, because we were the only people that we knew that had these pistol mice, and we went to lan parties, they use a different part of your wrist and it’s more comfortable to play. I wish they would still have made this and improved it. Like Clint said the scroll wheel is sensitive and the alt click button is oddly placed. I would like to see a more modern version of this with laser or something, always wanted to hear Clints opinion on this. And like Clint said it would be good for a casual game, but not for one on one or Deathmatch, it’s not super precise because it’s using the up-and-down motion of your wrist instead of the side to side, it does take some getting used to, but we’ve always found it interesting. They were like $70 brand new back in 04/05.
11:40 as someone from Europe, I never saw one of these in person, but I guess this was the source of the "USE" icon in Sam&Max - Hit The Road! Neat! I would have loved if you opened them up and see what's inside in all 3 of them.

Clint, we have 2 of those gun mice with box, was gonna send you, glad to know you have one.
oh man I own the MonsterGecko FPS mouse and freaking loved it! only down side is the wire that's on it, way to thin. after about 2 years of constant use the wire started to develop breaks in it, which I still need to get replaced at some point so I can use it again.
anyways what's interesting to note about that mouse is that you don't need to slide it sideways to aim left or right, you can do that by simply twisting the mouse left and right from the grip. this feature is so good that you don't even notice it if you aren't paying attention.
13:26 "Anyway.. Well.. This is a terrible test" *Proceeds to aim and pitch the ball at the batters groin*
Another good video.
Love to see more weird mice...maybe some weird keyboards too.
It's always a treat to discover those kind of computer mice!
that Cool Crab mousepad is so freaking neat, i want one
right?? the second I saw it i knew i needed one. and right while i need to buy stuff for my new desk job lmao
Huh, the gun mouse is a stylized version of the vertical mice you see that susposedly help with your wrist since you don't twist your wrist to use them
Not related to the video itself but your voice is so soothing like imagine you doing asmr. I would 😴 so fast
Man, so cool to see the classic LGR chair again.
I get excited for LGR videos like I used to for blockbuster movies
Another great vid, Clint!!! Hopefully thriftshop vids will be coming back soon!!!
amazing! such a fun series!
I am really impressed by your finger discipline.
13:30 “Well this is a terrible test” Proceeds to pitch into the batter’s crotch 😂
11:40 as someone from Europe, I never saw one of these in person, but I guess this was the source of the "USE" icon in Sam&Max - Hit The Road! Neat!
I would have loved if you opened them up and see what's inside in all 3 of them.
