It`s not that hard when you got the ball the whole time.... Westbrook, Trae Young, Lebron, Lillard are all doing 25-30 and 10 today... Jordan average 32 8 asst when he ran point in 88
I remember seeing that on some basketball reference list and didn't make much of it until recently! It's crazy that a PG was able to do that in an era where you were expected to feed the bigs on offense, the 3 point shot didn't exist, and therefore you didn't have the spacing to drive to the basket 1-on-1! He lead the league in scoring as a 6"-ish PG scoring 2s! That's really impressive!
I don't think they made up because of making up being a 2 way street. Jalen has said multiple times that he'd be open to talking CWebb and hashing stuff out but that they'd need to talk man to man to work things out. I don't think CWebb is interested in that same way
Here's what I think happened: I think Jordan is playing word games. I think Jordan didn't tell anybody Isaiah CAN'T be on the team. I think he simply let it be known he wouldn't play if he was. Lol
I think the people in charge knew he wouldn't. And that's all they needed. There was no way they were not going to have Jordan on that team. So take no chances ... too bad Isiah ... it's about who you know.
Appreciate Charles for Speaking Truth to Power! Yeah, not shaking hands wasn't the best decision, but the level of disrespect Zeke has gotten over the years since is UNWARRANTED!
Riiiight. There's a reason Scottie, MJ, Bird, Magic didn't want him on that team. Isiah earned that disdain. You make choices and you have to live with the consequences. Nobody is saying Isiah is an awful guy or that he wasn't an amazing player who's talent should've been represented in the Olympics but did anyone see or hear Chuck Daley going to the mat for him? Chuck was his coach but he didn't say "look, my boy deserves to be here. If you want me as coach he has to play". Chuck knew how the top players felt and thought destroying team chemistry wasn't worth it for a guy who adds nothing to the team and Chuck was right.
Isiah was not a dirty player you can't find not one footage of him personally making a dirty foul. So stop saying he was a dirty player! You also can't find not one player that said that Isiah told them to put out an hit or issued a foul order on any player period! It was Laimbeer, Mahorn, and Roman actually committed the hard fouls along with the other Pistons big men that everyone's always complaining about. However you rarely hear anything said about them outside of Laimbeer. Roman dang near killed Pippen but you don't hear nothing much about that at all because he ended up becoming one of their teammates, just a bunch of whiny hypocrites!!!!!
So the bad boy image and being hated was cool when you were winning back to back titles but when that's over now its an issue cuz you wanna be accepted. Can't have it both ways. Gotta live with the results of those choices.
He meant Patrick Ewing, because he was talking David Robison and Ewing battling at center, but he was thinking ahead to what he said next about Pipen and Magic going against each other.
Man i love that era or basketball.. so magical. The memories of my dad shouting at the tv because reggie miller was so annoying lmaooo the jordan highlight tapes... the sneaker releases... the video games like Bull vs blazers... the way the game was played... 80’s and 90’s basketball to me was the game at its best in terms of enjoyment as a fan... we had everything back then.. mike tyson was a beast... micheal jordan was the goat... Micheal jackson music use to premier on network tv lmao.. it was just a dope time.
So well put, I couldn’t agree more. There is something to be said for more “innocent times” in terms of the amount of media/info we have now to consume on players and their lives. It allowed us to root for and against players/teams as though they were super-human figures and didn’t need all the off-court nonsense clouding how we felt about it.

To those young bloods out there, keep dissing all you want about Barkley having no rings, but Barkley in his hey day was a beast in the paint area offensively and defensively. With that relatively undersized and become a dominant force in the paint area is insane
thsu8 As if scoring 56 points on 23-31 shooting on ANYONE isn’t impressive... let alone against an elite NBA power forward. You wouldn’t score 56 points on 23-31 on a group of 9th graders. Also, for your information, check out Amare’s series average against Duncan in 2005’s WCF... it’s not 23-31, but quite impressive as a 22yo... pre-knee injury Amare was pretty unbelievable
DRN1001 Louisianimal so what? Lmao Draymond benefited from playing with 3 of the greatest scorers of all time. Draymond could NEVER be the best player on a team like Chuck was
@@GABRIELA-ACEVEDO. Isaiah should start the match by offering to shake MJs hand like a heel, as soon as Jordan moves forward he should withdraw his hand and clothesline him like a true heel.
And also the good point he made about magic. Yes Magic is certainly is superior player to them, largely due to his size and as Charles said, kind of a freak of nature at that position.
tonybcamara it didn’t even make sense. Magic was as pure a pg as it gets. Basically charles found a fancy way to say Stockton and Isaiah are second and third behind magic 😂
Brother in sweden And your point is I’m pretty sure he was an aggressive player and he played defense very well that didn’t mean that he was wrong. The only reason why they had a problem with him is because they couldn’t score on him easily he made them work for their baskets and that’s what a real defender is supposed to do so if they made him enemy number one so be it

Kobe stole that concept and called it the "Mamba Mentality" People think that this was Kobe's mindset coming into the NBA, it wasn't Kobe listen to Jordan and then took his philosophy and named it the Mamba Mentality!
I remember a regular season game between the Bulls and Trailblazers in Portland. Early on, Drexler made some great plays. I remember thinking, well, maybe Clyde is closer to Jordan in talent than I thought. Like on cue, all of a sudden Jordan went on a tear. One spectacular play after another, culminating with a dunk where he jumped at around the free throw line and soared over what seemed like 4 or 5 players. Greatest dunk in a game I ever saw. Bye bye Clyde. Case closed.
@@chrislucero1824 we talkin about player impact and player stats, not the team success, Charles didn't have a team as good as Draymond does. Not saying Dray ain't good, he's great!

Although he may not be the driving force behind their championships, he still played a big role in all of them. With that said, Green is a role player and Barkley is a superstar. @@Daniel-zf3hz by what standards? Can't be winning since MJ never lost a final or even went to a game 7. Can't be number of rings because that would be Bill Russell. Other than being part of the younger generation that thinks what they're seeing right now is the best ever no matter the sport. What's ur standard for declaring LeBron the goat?
I just realized that someone like MJ who got drafted in 84 (2 years before I was born I'm 34) played against someone who is still playing in the league today in Vince Carter. That's crazy if you put that into perspective.
MJ didn't like Isaiah Thomas and Isaiah Thomas didn't like Adrian Dantley. Most of the Dream Team members are not man enough to say they didn't like Isaiah Thomas and did not want to play with him. Adrian Dantley missed out on two championship rings.
Let's keep it real for you newbies or those that suffer from senility! Adrian Dantley's beef with Isiah was due to the fact that he didn't want to acknowledge that the Pistons (already) had a leader in Zeke! Secondly, Dennis Rodman was a burgeoning phenom and AD didn’t want to sacrifice minutes to Worm (Rodman). Everybody knew that AD was a scoring champ and machine but his half court game ultimately slowed down the Pistons pace. AD was also a liability on the defensive end. As far as championships goes...If the Pistons weren't hosed by the refs in the "88" finals against LA in game 6. He would've had his ring. Going into the 1989 season, if you were a true pistons fan, you would've known that the Pistons started out the season horribly...getting ran on by everyone and seemingly hitting a wall with negative results, ie.. stagnant offensive and defensive approach (which is their bread and butter). Coach Daly knew something had to changed... He consulted with Isiah and the decision was made to (A) Bring someone in that could score and buy in to the system. Willing to be a team first player and not cause friction with the team leader. Zeke's boy Mark Aguirre was coveted in the trade to bring him in and give him the rundown on what his expectations are... Aguirre came in and was the quintessential (once superstar player in his own right with Dallas) piece to sacrifice for team winning results. Aguirre realized once on the team and after a certain amount of (so-so) games went on informed Rodman, Daly and Zeke that Worm should be the starter and he'll accept the position on the 2nd unit as the featured scorer. The move clicked like clockwork and the Bad Boys were on their way to the mountain as Finals champions and ultimately ended up as Back 2 Back NBA Champions the following year! They move netted much positive results and the rest is history. AD thought he was "equal or greater" than Zeke as a player and in leadership role. He got himself all twisted and thus was shown the door with "Thank you for your tremendous service but we got it from here on out! Magic, Bird, Isiah, and Jordan were superstars and the unequivocal leaders in their respective squads. AD (unfortunately) found out the hard way 😫 ~Bad Boys4Life
This is why I can't stand it when I see comments about Isiah Thomas walking off (which he should've shaken hands with MJ as Charles said), but Charles is right, he should've been on the Dream Team. MJ was bitter about him not shaking hands.
"Real sick, brawl nights, I perform like Mike Anyone - Tyson, Jordan, Jackson Action, pack guns, ridiculous And I'm, quick to bust, if my ends you touch" - the legend Christopher Wallace
Good point and people always debate MJ/Lebronna which isn’t debatable it’s FOOLERY MJ 👅 the b-ball 🐐 but what is debatable who was more dominant in their prime Michael Jordan or Mike Tyson???
I remember watching the 92 Olympics thinking to myself wow Barkley is outshining of all these " All Time Greats" with his play in these games. Some of those games made me nervous as a USA fan because many games were actually competitive until the final quarter or so. When the score was tight in those games instead of Michael Jordan it was Charles Barkley's performances that would tip those games in the Americans favor.
Man, Charles did it all on the court. Great scorer especially on post ups and coast to coast plays. Arguably the greatest rebounder for his size ever. Underappreciated defender with scrappy defense and actually a surprisingly decent rim protector.
Dan Dan No he wasn’t dirty he just played defense they weren’t used to having people that actually guarded them. He told the players that anytime Michael Jordan or Scottie or really any star player on the team came through the sinner they had to be hit not to injure them of course but because that’s part of playing defense you don’t let them get it easy bucket on you
@@DanDan-os6hd he was. Not a bad comparison. What i & I'm sure many don't like about Isiah, is he never wanted to own up to his incidents & dirty play. He seemed to feel that his bright smile & talent should be enough to overlook his "misgivings".

It's terrible that Isiah's one action, one time, has defined his character as a whole in so many ppls eyes, and completely ignoring everything else about him
It was more than just that one thing. He also said some foul things about Magic after it was revealed he had HIV. Magic has even stated that he had a hand in Isaiah not being on the Dream Team. So there was No Way he was getting on THAT team with MJ AND Magic not wanting him there, but Isaiah brought that on himself and that's unfortunate because he's definitely one of the greatest.
pretty much when jordan magic and bird...the top3players during that era said youre not getting on the boat...then youre not fking getting on the boat!
@@kenchirokenchiro7688 Bird was not that petty. He played w every body. Let's talk This HIV thing is taken out of context. Isiah Thomas had to ask questions to find answers to HIV questions to allow Magic to play in the 92 allstar game. He had to as the union delegate defend his position to get Magic back in the game.
Those questions had to be asked regarding his homosexuality so that Isiah as the union delegate can answer them intelligently in defending his position to let the league play w Magic after HIV diagnosis. Players like Karl Malone Dominik Wilkins, Charles Barkley didnt want to play w MGic. Isiah stepped down as union delegate before Magic could lobby to get back in the NBA so he was pissed at Isiah. Magic found out later the players and league didn't want him back. So Isiah stood up for Magic Magic dudnt stand up for Isiah namely because he had HIV and was barely on the team No HIV Magic maybe Magic would have defeated mJ No HiV Maguc he would have stood up for Isiah Thomas. My take on it.
“If I’m being honest, it was the first time I felt like I was not the best player in the world” - Charles Barkley 1993 (after MJ beat the MVP best player Charles Barkley in the NBA finals)
84 Olympic Basketball tryouts. When Barkley gets cut he says "I was the 2nd best player out there by far." They ask well who was the best. Barkley says, " I just saw the best player I've ever seen, Michael Jordan from North Carolina".
Britloves Quincy Webber would most likely be in the HOF if not for the Ed Martin thing. The basketball HOF isn’t nearly as stringent with their standards as baseball or football.
I would throw both Malone and Stockton as well. With all the flopping now. Back in the day you never let another player knock you down. It was a pride thing to take their best shot and walk away. Now you look at an opposing player and they fly backward and start looking around to see if the ref is gonna call something.
sai efrain victoria araujo yup he should just own it, like most of his teammates. Don’t embrace the “bad boy” mentality and than cry when no one in the league likes you.
Great interview. Jalen Rose much respect on your approach to Isaiah Thomas true experiences of the eighties and how he was done wrong by the Olympics committee and MJ. I a fan of Magic Johnson however I have no respect for him sucking up to MJ against Mr. Thomas right to represent the United States of being part of the Dream Team
You're 100% right. Too many of the comments are just repeating something I heard on ESPN. I was alive during then, and only interested in truth because I love the game of basketball and competition in general. All the greats were retired when MJ was winning titles -- Isiah, Kareem, Bird, Magic, Dr. J, etc etc.. Pistons beat the Bulls 3 yrs in a row, and it took a season ending injury for Isiah (who defied doctor's orders, came back after missing half the season, was never the same and retired at 32) and losing Mahorn for Chicago to beat Detroit. Chicago got their first title because Kareem just retired! Never beat the Celtics. The only good series in the 90s would have been Chicago-Houston. My friend from Chicago says they always lost. Another thing Detroit and Chicago had in common -- no big man down low. Laimbeer stood on the perimeter, Cartwright had the mid-range (ugly) jumper, but they were both all-stars (less than 4 times combined probably).
It's a shame that Isiah's playing career is going to boil down to 3 moments, the thing in 87 with Larry Bird over comments Rodman originally made, the ECF walk off in 91, and him being left off the Dream Team in 92. So much of the public won't hear about his excellent career at Indiana and winning a chip in college, people will overlook the skills he had as a smaller player and the heart he showed, especially in Game 6 of the 88 Finals (man dropped 43, 25 points in the 3rd Quarter on a busted ankle), his charity work, his time as President of the NBAPA, all of that gets overshadowed over a few moments. Does he have stuff to answer for during his time with the Knicks? Yes (but TBH, the Knicks will always Knicks and be terrible), and for some of his coaching decisions at the Pacers, sure, but no denying man is at worst the 2nd or 3rd best point guard in the history of the game and now has become the most overlooked player.
It might boil down to those things for you, but not to me. I watched him live. I knew how good he was. I choose to not let the media and ignorant people dictate his career. You can do the same, if you want to. Not just on this page but elsewhere. You can help to remind others of Isiah's skills and accomplishments.
Detroiters will never forget him. Amazing player, hard core, little guy who didn’t let anyone push him around - he didn’t care how big the person was, came up hard on the streets of Chicago, etc.. should’ve been on the team - no question.
Jordan wouldnt have cared about him not shaking his hand if isiah hadnt faked like they were family all the time that detroit was beating chicago , then snake him following laimbeer when you pretended to be family
Jordan and his crew are a bunch of sensitive B!TCHES! Nobody has to shake hands. It means nothing. Bird didn’t do it - so what? And nobody jumped on Bird’s case. The fact that Jordan, Pippen, Grant, etc, are still so sensitive about their whole experience against the Bad Boys shows that they never got over those a$$ whoopins they took from Detroit.
Charles didn’t “sound off.” He did say Isaiah was the greatest little man point guard of all time and “probably” should have been on the Dream Team. Most of the guys on that team did not like The Pistons period. It was more fun without him. He paid a price for their “Bad Boys” mugging
Raleigh Simmons Coached by Fred Tex Winter. Had Chuck been in Scottie's place the Chicago Bulls would have won 4-5 straight NBA Rings and 10 NBA total Championships. Michel is big enough to approach Isaiah. The world is waiting to see two Hebrews love each other. Isaiah is the best point guard no matter what Scottie says who is a beast himself, don't get this twisted about Ledgen Scottie Pippen who is one of the greats. Period!

I think the people in charge knew he wouldn't. And that's all they needed. There was no way they were not going to have Jordan on that team. So take no chances ... too bad Isiah ... it's about who you know.
That's about accurate especially in 1992 the blood was still very bad at that point no way Jordan would've mos def not wanted to play with Zeke

Appreciate Charles for Speaking Truth to Power! Yeah, not shaking hands wasn't the best decision, but the level of disrespect Zeke has gotten over the years since is UNWARRANTED!
He is still a dirty player though.
Roman dang near killed Pippen but you don't hear nothing much about that at all because he ended up becoming one of their teammates, just a bunch of whiny hypocrites!!!!!
did he mean to say Ewing and Robinson? He said Centers Pippen and Robinson?
So the bad boy image and being hated was cool when you were winning back to back titles but when that's over now its an issue cuz you wanna be accepted. Can't have it both ways. Gotta live with the results of those choices.
It's amazing that Charles knows his stats from games 26 years ago, but said that Scottie Pippen played Center.
He was thinking in Pat Ewing, but so many talk around Jordan before that, and he mistook the names.
He meant Patrick Ewing, because he was talking David Robison and Ewing battling at center, but he was thinking ahead to what he said next about Pipen and Magic going against each other.

yo zoro. Have you found Kaido?
Vince Carter played with and against Dell Curry and his son Steph. That's more mind-blowing to me..
Well...he finally retired early thanks to coronavirus shutting things down
Adam Vinatieri has been playing in the NFL since 1995
Gordie Howe played alongside his sons at the age of 47.
MJ didn't like Isaiah Thomas and Isaiah Thomas didn't like Adrian Dantley. Most of the Dream Team members are not man enough to say they didn't like Isaiah Thomas and did not want to play with him. Adrian Dantley missed out on two championship rings.
James L Avery - Exactly
Adrian Dantley definitely made it clear that he doesn’t like Isiah Thomas on the Bad Boys doc.
AD (unfortunately) found out the hard way 😫

0:50 Chuck must have been drinking hella early this morning if Scottie Pippen was a Center 💀
Pippin could do it all.
lolll. also best center in the world wasn't on the dream team. and it wasn't close.
😂
I think he meant Robert "Parrish!"
@@willzsportscards No, but he did eventually become a US citizen and represented the US some 4 years later...
Barkley and Ewing my first favorite players growing up and learning sports.
My boy said purrrrr point guard.
Why do they never mention that the Celtics didn't shake the piston hands when they finally got over the hump but It's only The Bulls in they feelings
lfox211 cuz the Celtics was a white team for America that’s why it was easy for Detroit look at how many black players was on that team
Mj been a crybaby i remember he use be like they tryn hurt me no they not or they would let i droped to ground lol
Period!
I feel like waybe Gretzky gets overlooked in the greatest of there respected sports. He is called the great one and smashed almost all the records very quickly
It's only because we are not a hockey nation. But Wayne was absolutely awesome. And you're right he wasn't called the great one for nothing.
Peace
