    The sweep on that GS 😊

    Nice review dude, I bought the blue dial then flipped it. After about six months I missed it and bought the Anthracite. Quality watches.

      Yeah, it really is well done. I have been wearing mine a lot. I think the anthracite dial is the best one as it's more versatile.

    In my opinion, the Monta looks like the higher-end watch of the two, and more functional with that quick adjust clasp. Just insane value compared to the heritage brands. Definitely on my list

      Monta is very nice indeed and you can get some deals like I did on the second hand market.

      @@A_Dude_And_His_Watch78 that's great to know, definitely gonna check the second hand markets!

      What? Look again. GS dials are next level in person. (This cream dial isn’t as finessed as most of their line but it’s still gorgeous and a much dressier color than this Monta which has a sportier look). And the rest of the finishing is detail by detail a big step up from brands like Rolex. (Almost everything is better finished than Rolex to be fair). The Monta is nice for the price but really just not in the same league.

    • @A_Dude_And_His_Watch78
      @A_Dude_And_His_Watch78  Год назад

      @@f.kieranfinney457the dial color is champagne. Maybe looks creamy in the video. I had a SARB035 and that had more of a cream dial. In fact this dial takes more steps to make than the snowflake. But you're definitely right about everything else. Thanks for watching.

    • @f.kieranfinney457
      @f.kieranfinney457 Год назад +3

      @@A_Dude_And_His_Watch78 champagne? Kinda Pedantic semantics. I think champagne is more gold, less white but no matter. It’s gorgeous.
      I know how difficult and expensive to make dials like those in the Credor line are but this isn’t anywhere close to that. Nothing in the watch world is as difficult to make as the manufacturer describes. The BS hyperbole in their marketing is hilarious.
      What’s also great about GS is you won’t see a mall watch with the same dial. Whereas I HAVE a mall watch with a dial face like the Monta.

    Very nice comparison. First video of yours I've seen; surprised you don't have more subscribers (I subscribed). Really like both watches. $3K for that GS seems like a steal. Both gorgeous watches.

      Thanks, man. I don't post a lot, no editing or quality camera. That's probably why I don't have a lot of subscribers. I'm glad you liked the video and I appreciate the support.

    Love both of these brands/models, awaiting my preorder mint Monta Noble to come in, and looking forward to getting a GS shunbun in the future!

    Been trying to decide between the Noble, Atlas, and Triumph. It may come down to the best deal I can find. That spring drive sweep is unbelievable good.

    • @A_Dude_And_His_Watch78
      @A_Dude_And_His_Watch78  Год назад

      I would get the Atlas. You get a GMT and the bezel is brushed. I love my Noble but the bezel will eventually get scratches like on the Grand Seiko. Anywho, that's my vote. To wear is to love. Let me know what you get and how you like it. Thanks for watching. Oh, and indeed the spring drive is incredible. It's very accurate and the sweep is beautiful. And to think, my SBGA 283 is considered entry level for Grand Seiko spring drive. I got mine second hand off eBay for under $3000. I find it to be better finished than the big R and far cheaper. In my opinion Grand Seiko represents an incredible value proposition.

      The only way is to get one. Look at the used ones, they are often in pristine condition, originally purchased by watch nerds and sold for whatever reason... often at half- price 😅

    Monta case and lugs look more like Rolex and Tudor. The bracelet is amazing and it’s tight! I’m not a huge GS fan but that one is very nice looking.

    • @A_Dude_And_His_Watch78
      @A_Dude_And_His_Watch78  6 месяцев назад +1

      I disagree with that. Rolex and Tudor thin the lugs towards the bracelet so it's not so squared off. The case profile is also different on both. Tudor is more slab sided and thicker and Rolex have a distinct curve down towards the wrist. The Monta case is completely different. Thanks for watching.

    The way the pointy end of the Monta clasp has very visibly marked the brushed finish on the bracelet is triggering me.

      @A_Dude_And_His_Watch78  4 месяца назад

      Yeah it's a little gripe. My Tudor Black Bay does the same though. Only think to do is kick back with a white Russian and listen to some Creedence.

    A couple of small but annoying things for me keep me from buying a Monta. 1- no positive end link. 2. While the clasp has a great design, it is a bit chunky.

    • @A_Dude_And_His_Watch78
      @A_Dude_And_His_Watch78  Год назад +3

      Not sure what you mean about positive endlink. The endlink by the case is female and solid. I don't find the clasp to be too chunky. It's a homerun for me and a watch I plan on keeping long term. Thanks for watching.

    I dont understant why Seiko and other brands continue to do the "pregnant"/ domed caseback, its so unconfortable. Monta is doing what Rolex and Tudor do wich is a very complete flat caseback from lug to lug. Its so much more confortable. And because its so thin you can easily use it with longer sleves.

  • @A_Dude_And_His_Watch78
