    It's crazy how Champ Games games makes me feel like a kid at the arcade again, but I get to play them on the 2600. Life is good.

    I played many homebrew's, and I especially like the shooters including Draconian, Scramble, Super Cobra, and Juno First.

      I videoed me playing all of those games on my 2600 console, and the video was corrupted so I couldn’t publish it. I’ll try again this week. I love all of those games on the 2600

    Most of these games are very ambitious and incredible that they are on a 2600.

      Yeah, somehow John Champeau takes advantage of newer tech that wasn’t available back when the system was out. Love these games!

    Scramble is a good game that didn't get many home ports in the 80's. But it has a number of homebrew releases on systems including the Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, and NES. Scramble is the precursor to horizontal space shooters like Gradius and R-Type.

    • @RetroBlissGaming
      @RetroBlissGaming  2 года назад

      Yes, and I love those other shooters as well. Those other ports of Scramble are pretty good. Thanks for watching and commenting!! I may do a review of the different versions of just Scramble… I like that idea, thanks!

    I have a copy of the original playable prototype version of AVALANCHE by Champ Games for the Atari 2600 VCS, that I received from its programmer as a download through the AtariAge forums. Even being an early version it is fun to play.

    • @RetroBlissGaming
      @RetroBlissGaming  Год назад +2

      They are all amazing... but, no, they would not have been possible back in the life of the console. Most of these games are 32K. Most of the Atari cart were between 2K to 4K, with some 8K toward the end of it's life.

    These games are so incredible. I grew up with the 2600, and the games may have been low-quality compared to the arcade games they were porting, but they were fun.
    If I were to create a game, I would like to use some of the peripherals that were available, but underused, especially the Video Touch Pad or the Keyboard Controller. (I lean toward the Touch Pad because then I would try to come up with overlays for the games.)

    • @RetroBlissGaming
      @RetroBlissGaming  Год назад

      That would be amazing. I think the reason that it’s not happening is that most people don’t have those peripherals. It would be cool to see new games for them, though!
