I liked a points raised on passing the ball especially against deep blocks. For lots of games our passing was not fast enough, we let opposition to regroup easily. In some games Arsenal gave easy balls away that let to conceding cheap goals.

It's clear we missed Xhaka's presence in midfield this season and Havertz has ultimately failed to fill those boots in the 8 role, so we undoubtedly need a creative a box to box. Ideally someone who can carry the ball and take a bit of the creative onus away from Odergaard. The David Silva to our KDB if you will (Rice is our Fernandinho). Idk if De Jong has the legs for this role, maybe someone like Pacqueta could work, or take a punt on someone like Xavi Simons. Anyone who has more quality than Vieira, ESR and Havertz as an 8 improves us. This would be my priority. Maybe Bruno G is the guy for this.
If we sell one or both Lokonga and Parety, we will 100 per cent need another centre mid as quality depth, someone who can play both the 6 and the 8 to a decent level like Douglas Luiz or again Bruno G would be ideal. I would have said Lavia too before he signed for Chelsea. Anyone better than Partey improves us. I think it you look at City's engine room, rodri, bernado, kovacic, kdb, nunes, foden, the depth and quality they have there definitely gives them the edge. It's harsh but we can be relying on an older injury prone partey, jorginho, esr, and vieria to compete against that. Maybe Zubamendi or Neves can take this role, or Paulinha from Fulham.
We need another explosive pacey winger, preferably someone who can play on both sides, someone who can back Saka up, and stand in for Martinelli when he isn't performing. Pedro Neto would have been ideal if not for the injuries. I would love to get Kudus but he'll probably be too expensive and I've never really seen him play on the left. Anyone who's better than Reiss Nelson will improve us, but ideally we need a top top quality player to really push the needle and create competition amongst the wide forwards. Soemone who can play instead of Saka without the level drastically dropping. I think this is potentially the hardest position to fill.
Then finally, on the assumption Havertz starts up top for us next season, I believe we need to find a more clinical striker than Jesus (shouldn't be too hard) to bring in as a back up. Havertz, Jesus, and then a Sesko/Osimhen/Watkins/Toney/Gyokores is an improvement on Havertz Jesus and Nketiah. If we sign a more dangerous striker than Jesus to be a 2nd choice, it allows us to deploy Jesus as more of a quality depth wildcard who can play across the front 3.
So for me, bolster the midfield with 2 quality signings, bolster the attack with an explosive winger and a clinical striker. 4 signings in total. I think we leave the defence as it is, Timber comes in as LB, and then depending on injuries and peformances we can reassess the need to sign a defensive reenforcement in January.
We missed Partey you loon lol....Havertz scored more and assisted more than Xhaka...out scored Jesus in both seasons too

Arsenal team has developed the mentality of their fans, you are matching arsenal now to arsenal past , the team is celebrating the same achievements , talking about record broken , better than invincible , " HELLO ", YOU are not competing against your self , the records you need to break is in front of you , beat liverpool record points , 97 still finish second , 93 still in second , then there is city , 100 then 98 , those should be the target of a team wanting to win the league and break records ,those old Arsenal records are lower than a snale belt buckle , the higest points 85 or 86 , in this era with liverpool and city , that would get them third seven times out of eight season ,, you are burying your team , competing with your twenty years ago team ,,

disagree with George on Saka... i don't think we desperately need to maximise Saka's offensive output, coz i don't see Saka as a Salah type... we need a prolific striker, then Saka would be perfect for his current role... aside from a prolific striker (Isak type), we need an initiator in the 8 position (Douglas Luiz type)
If you're gonna have players in the squad who hardly play I'd rather they be teenagers like Nwaneri. The likes of Nelson and Nketiah need to play or go.
One way to think about this is what do City have that we don’t….what or who are the difference makers…..here are some observations……
1. We don’t have a world class ball striker or strikers
2. How many goals do we score for outside the box, not many
3. How many cheat codes do we have? By that I mean players that will pull you through when you aren’t playing well?
We are the best coached team in Europe and probably the best team out of possession, and best system team.
But we lack sparkle, creativity, and difference makers, a Foden who cuts inside and smashed the ball top corner against West Ham, or KDB coming on against Newcastle, scoring a brilliant individual goal and assisting the winner.
We need to unleash our forward line, and bring in difference makers…..
I doubt you’d have questioned the squad depth (bar Havertz) in the beginning of the season. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that, but tell me how you cope with your shiny new toy, possibly season changing tactical position. breaking down for the entirety of the season after the first 45 minutes. Or your very exciting no. 9 having another career defining injury, or your other starboy having some confidence issues. Some storms you can’t predict, dude. Even Emile Smith Rowe: an injury, a pretty big surgery later, you obviously don’t hit the ground running. This was an excellent squad of players that the manager trusted at the beginning of the season. Pity your memories of ESR, Martinelli and Jesus are shallow. The manager just definitely knows more, and if there’s no injury problems, I don’t think any of those three players are any less integral for our future. That’s what trust means. You don’t have be a critique about everything; just claim the things that we weren’t so good in this season, like your breakdown of us not doing good against low blocks, and move on. I really hate it when players’ names are taken without much context.
If we look at comments from the players (I recall Odegaard saying this and someone else) about their slump in December, they all said that they were "tired".
We need a stronger squad that Mikel trusts. We cant play Odegaard, Rice, Saka every game. When did we start losing points and played worse again in 2024? When we started playing Midweek games again with CL (Aston Villa & Bayern Munich games were back to back).

Great to see Rohan's butler didn't have to step in for Rohan again, wonderful to have the real thing over a replacement.
I think the 2 biggest things that need to happen this summer and next season is -
1. A really strong summer. We need to get players in that not only add to the squad but improve it. As said by bhavs, improving the base of the squad so when players come in, quality doesn't drop.
I also think that getting all our transfers done as early as possible will be important. Means our new players can really integrate in the pre-season to not only get to know their new team mates, but the way Arteta wants them to impact on the team/during games.
2. Rotation and partnerships. Pep constantly rotates his squad, which helps to keep players fresh/not burn out. Once our newer players become accustomed to the squad and how we play, then Arteta needs to rotate more often so players don't burn out/play too many minutes.
We also need to find more partnerships for players, mainly if any injuries happen. Saliba and Gabriel is where I look the most. If either were to get injured for a decent to long period, I think we drop off a lot. So we need a straightforward player(s) who can come in and keep the standard high.
We also need players that can come in across all other positions, especially for Odegaard and Saka.
I think if these were achieved, it would put us in a really good way to push on next season. Not just for the Premier league but also the UCL and Cup competitions.
I agree, well said. Its just that I think the Euro's will influence our ability to get things done early. I think all transfers might be a bit later because of that. I believe there is also a Copa in South America.
@HarmvanderWilt Yes agreed. The euros will have an impact, as well as our financial position (FFP), which doesn't reset until the end of June.
Hopefully, we can get deals in place at least and sell players that won't be in the squad before then!

Well put. Personally I think having no real cover for Odegaard is a pretty dangerous place to be. I don’t know if we could maintain our levels if he was out for 6-8 weeks or more, a la De Bruyne.

I would say it’s Ben White. If Timber comes in at right back, that could be next seasons ‘Jesus’. Which I’d hate btw
My dream window would be Bruno G and Kudus at the centre of it, among 1-2 other smaller signings such as for LB. Kudus would be a good addition if we are not selling Gabriel Jesus. He can both be alternate to Saka and an option for CF when required.
Timber at right back. Ben white is super consistent but there are things that Timber brings that white cannot.
Zini and timber played against Everton we may see more of that in the new season.
Trusting the squad is a massive one for me.
Question will we get a good player at RW when they know Saka will always start and effectively they’ll end up competing for the left wing slot like everyone else.

On the needed improvement of players carrying the ball into opposition territory perhaps the inclusion of a fit Timber and maybe Kadioglu and Hati plus whichever midfielder/s and wide forward could give that aspect a real boost. And Adam Wharton from CPalace is pass first material midfielder supreme
I think it's the clear superstar, saks is slowly coming there, but city has some many world class players, that just end matches the matches, one little mistake and they're up 1-0. Plz sign a world class left winger, if Martinelli doesn't get going in pre season

Arteta with his team selection is like my toddler, when she get a new toy that's all she pays with and completely forgets the other toys. Likewise Mikel sticks to his preferred 11. Partey was fit again, so started every game, even though Jorginho had shown he was a great fit, he didn't start a single game since Partey was fully fit. We need better squad rotation, no one would want to be a squad player at Arsenal, as they get very few opportunities to play.

We’re the best we’ve been in 20 years, 89 points , most goals , won at Trafford , beat city , beat Liverpool the list goes on.. I think people need to cut arteta some slack for Christ’s sake!

Jorginho signed a contract while Arteta was playing Partey ahead of him. I just saw it as Mikel maximising Partey being in the shop window with what few games were left in the season. Getting as much as possible for Partey probably is important if going for a target like Bruno G.
Arteta took too long to find out best team and best formation this season. Half the year we looked toothless in front of goal and it really cost us. By the time he had it figured out, we were too far behind and had to be basically perfect for the whole second half of the season.
Arteta should learn to rotate players and give others a rest. Saka and Martineli are over used unnecessarily in certain matches that's why at the end of business when we need them most they don't perform
The next step is a squad of equal quality on which most players can be dropped in & out as needed for tactical need or freshness or injury.

There are good analytical, micro, takes in the video and comments. I’m at a point, though, where my big and overarching goal is: to build a bench that Arteta has confidence in. Of course, 10-15% of that is Arteta growing as a manager (not using players is not only an indictment on the player). When we get to that point I’m sure (ok, hopeful!) that the makeup of the team will resemble a well-rounded and capable arsenal (hah).

I agree with the comments regarding the squad improvement however we are boiling the ocean here. Literally what we need to improve on is to just beat city. We lost to them the season before we tied both times this season next season we just need to beat them thats how to take control our own destiny and not depend on others for help to beat them mathematically.
Just to correct you this season we actually beat them at home and drew at the Etihad..
We even beat them 2x
1st at Wembly (Community Shield)
